Four new members have been selected to become the 2014 class for the Cardinal Hall of Fame at Trinity Valley Community College.

“We are very excited about the inductees selected (for the hall of fame) this year,” said Benny Rogers, sports information officer and chairman of the hall of fame selection committee. “All four played vital roles in contributing to the success and tradition on which our athletic programs are built.

KCKL to Broadcast TVCC Football Games

Trinity Valley Community College announced Wednesday Henderson County-based radio station KCKL (95.9 FM) will again be broadcasting its football games this fall.

Budke to be Inducted Into Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame

Former Trinity Valley Community College head women’s basketball coach Kurt Budke will be inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame’s Class of 2015.

The announcement was made Saturday on ESPN during the WNBA All-Star Game at US Airways Center in Phoenix. Budke is one of six inductees, joining Janeth Arcain (player), Gail Goestenkors (coach), Janet Harris (player), Lisa Leslie (player) and Brad Smith (coach). The Class of 2015 will be formally inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame on June 13, 2015, in Knoxville, Tenn.

Budke was the head coach of the TVCC Lady Cardinals from 1993 to 2000. During those seven years, the team appeared in the national tournament six times, winning four national championship titles. In Budke’s career at TVCC, the Lady Cardinals lost at home only two times. He led the team to some of their best season records ever, including an undefeated 36-0 season in 1999. Ewing Introduced As Next Coach of Lady Cardinals

The torch of the most successful NJCAA women’s basketball program has been passed to Gerald Ewing.

Ewing was today introduced as head coach at Trinity Valley Community College, which has claimed the last three national titles and has eight overall.

The 19-year coaching veteran replaces Elena Lovato, who resigned in June to become an assistant coach at Mississippi State University after leading the Lady Cardinals to back-to-back national crowns. Ewing was on Lovato’s coaching staff both seasons.

As her position coach, Ewing was instrumental in the development of 2014 NJCAA and WBCA Player of the Year Adut Bulgak, who has moved on to Florida State University. Bulgak was a two-time All-American. Continue reading “Ewing Introduced As Next Coach of Lady Cardinals”
