Weinstein Law, TVCC Announce 2015 Scholarships

Jeff and Christi Weinstein, in partnership with Trinity Valley Community College, recently announced the winners of the 2015 Weinstein Law Scholarships. The one-year scholarships are awarded annually to ten Henderson County high school students.

447 Graduate from Trinity Valley Community College

Trinity Valley Community College graduated 447 students during spring commencement ceremonies held Thursday and Friday at Cardinal Gym.

TVCC President Dr. Glendon Forgey addressed the graduates, including 30 from Athens High School who are part of the college’s Pinnacle/Early College High School partnership program and 99 students from the Kaufman Health Science Center’s associate degree nursing program. Forgey noted the AHS students were receiving an associate degree before they’ll graduate high school early next month. Several special awards were also presented, including the President’s Award to international student Ogulnazik Orazgeldiyeva from Turkmenistan. Trinity Valley Community College’s Continuing and Workforce Education Department and the Texas Workforce Commission offer an exceptional opportunity to small businesses in its service area through the Skills for Small Business program. Companies with fewer than 100 employees can apply for paid training for new and incumbent employees to help them learn new or hone existing skills in software, electrical, medical office, computer aided drafting, welding, auto mechanics, engineering and many other areas. Griffith Signs With UT Permian Basin

TVCC Finishes Up Spring Practice

I had the chance to chat with Trinity Valley Community College head football coach Brad Smiley last week before the Cardinals wrapped up their spring practice schedule Saturday morning.

“Spring’s been great,” Smiley said, and then added the phrase that every coach wants to hear at this stage. “We’ve stayed pretty healthy for the most part.”

Smiley pointed out that the early part of spring practice is about integrating new players with returning sophomores.
