TVCC Theatre student wins Las Vegas scholarship

Caitlynn Sandoval was awarded a week of tuition plus board at the Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas (SILV) for her exemplary work in stage management for the TVCC Theatre Department production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. She was recognized for her work at the 2018 Region 6 Kennedy Center American College Festival (KCACTF). The institute, to be held July 1-6, will cover techniques and methods of management skills and concepts for the business of live entertainment: organization, planning, personnel, safety as required for venue management, production management, wardrobe management, consulting, technical direction, stage management, office management, and personal and personnel management.

Both SILV and KCACTF are recognized institutions in theatre industry, and her award will provide an intensive and immersive educational opportunity, as well as, an opportunity to expand networking contacts. Caitlynn has also been offered a place in West Texas A&M’s theatre department in design and technology.

TVCC presents entrepreneurship awards

Trinity Valley Community College’s Business and Computer Science department recently presented Occupational Skills Awards to three students. Tony Biernacki, Angel Moore and Brenda Votolato all received the OSA in Entrepreneurship and have completed the Small Business Management Certificate. Moore will also receive her Associate of Applied Science degrees at next week’s spring graduation ceremonies. One student not present, Lennie Milczanowski will receive the OSA in Accounting and take the Intuit QuickBooks Certified user certification.

One week left to register for TVCC golf tournament

It’s time to tee it up to support the Trinity Valley Community College Foundation.

The annual golf tournament fundraiser is set for Monday, May 14 at Van Zandt Country Club in Canton.

Cost of the four-person scramble is $300 per, which includes a hamburger lunch. Paritcipants will also be recieving one of the best golf balls for distance as a momento. Teams can register for either the morning flight at 8 a.m. or the afternoon flight at 1 p.m., with trophies awarded for each flight.

Lady Cards ready for Region XIV Tournament

The Lady Cardinals (29-23) will be the No. 3 East seed in the Region XIV Tournament later this week at Port Arthur. They will face Blinn (30-16), the No. 2 South seed at 10 a.m. Friday, May 4 in the opening game of the tournament.

Earlier this season, the Lady Cardinals were an 8-7 winner against Blinn in the annual Region XIV Crossover Tournament in Longview.
