Michael Ellsberry, Director of the Trinity Valley Community College Small Business Development Center, was recently recognized by the North Texas SBDC for successful achievement of more than $5 million in loans to small businesses.

“Our SBDC assists companies and entrepreneurs in obtaining commercial loans, leasing funds, SBA loans and other types of financing,” said Ellsberry. “Often finding financing is tough in a still very conservative lending environment, so we are excited whenever we succeed in finding funding for various sizes of businesses.”

TVCC Science Club at Palestine’s Curious Museum

Trinity Valley Community College Science Club members recently presented an exhibit at the Curious museum in Palestine. The pop-up museum is a hands-on exhibit which is based on the world-famous Exploratorium in San Francisco. Curious promotes creative and innovation thinking skills that are important for all ages. The TVCC Science Club’s contribution to the current exhibit, “Let’s Make Light,” was a display of the eye, with anatomical models and tests for astigmatism, depth perception, color blindness, optical illusions and visual acuity.

Curious, located at 201 W. Oak Street in downtown Palestine, opened October 10. TVCC Science Club students plan to return for a showcase event on December 12.

Lady Cards win pair in Clarendon Classic

The second-ranked Trinity Valley Community College Lady Cardinals made up for a late start to the season in a big way this past weekend at the Clarendon Classic.

The Lady Cardinals scored a pair of convincing wins, racing away with a 133-24 blowout of Southwest Texas in their opener Friday and then Saturday routing host Clarendon to the tune of 96-61.

TVCC food drive scheduled

TVCC LogoFor the 36th year, Trinity Valley Community College students will be collecting canned food items for the Athens Food Pantry this Thursday, Nov. 19. Athens residents can expect to see students going door-to-door starting at 6 p.m.

Cardettes, Cardinal Regiment salute veterans

Trinity Valley Community College’s Cardettes and Cardinal Regiment presented a patriotic salute to veterans at Arabella Retirement Community on Veteran’s Day. The intermittent rain failed to dampen spirits, as veterans from each branch of military service rose to be recognized while the band played and the Cardettes danced and high-kicked for the residents assembled under the covered entrance.
