TVCC Foundation golf tourney scheduled May 16 at Pinnacle

The annual Trinity Valley Community College Foundation Golf Tournament is fast approaching.

Entries are being sought for the 2016 edition, scheduled Monday, May 16, at Pinnacle Golf and Boat Club.

The entry deadline for the event, which benefits the TVCC Foundation’s scholarship and capital campaign, is Friday, May 6.

Cost of the four-person scramble $300 team, or $75 per individual. The entry fee includes lunch. Individuals not associated with a team will be placed on one.

Navarro named student-athlete of month at TVCC

Angelica Navarro is a difference maker for the softball team at Trinity Valley Community College. She is also the Student-Athlete of the Month.

Navarro, a sophomore from Woodland, Cal., received the award Monday afternoon at the final Cardinal Pride Luncheon of the 2016 spring semester, held at Cotton Patch.

“Angelica has not only been a tremendous ballplayer on the field for our team, but off the field she carries the team with her leadership,” Lady Cardinal head coach Ashley Johnston said. “She impacts everyone she comes in contact with and has made me a better coach and person.”

TVCC dedicates W.P. ‘Rip’ Drumgoole Field

Trinity Valley Community College dedicated the W. P. “Rip” Drumgoole Field Saturday afternoon.

“I want to thank everyone for coming out to honor a beautiful man, a great individual who helped start this (softball) program,” said TVCC President Dr. Glendon Forgey.

TVCC scholarships available in Earth Day competition

Trinity Valley Community College will offer scholarships to the winners of the Egg Catapult Competition held during Earth Day, April 21. Approximately 20 exhibitors will be on the Athens campus from 9 to 1 to promote their organizations, and the TVCC Science Club will host the annual egg catapult competition. Any individual or team of up to 4 in high school or over 18 can participate, with the scholarships up to $1,000 for each team member being awarded. The competition is a fun event judged on both distance and accuracy, and is limited to 20 participants/teams.
