Students Needed for Sylvan Learning

We are looking for four more students for the next session of the Sylvan Learning Center at the Cain Center, Inc. I must have 10 students to begin the next class and so far I just have 6. This is such a wonderful program. Please call Tere Darby Lawyer @903-677-2000 ext 222 for an application and more information. If there are any former students or parents that would like to sing Sylvan’s praises I would love for you to share. I would hate to have to discontinue this program as it has helped so many students here in Athens over the past year. Thanks so much!
Malakoff Rotary Prepares for 75th Anniversary
The Malakoff Rotary Club is one of the oldest of its kind in this area, and will be celebrating its 75th anniversary on March 29 at the Malakoff Community Center from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be a catered meal, served by the officers of the MHS FFA and the Culinary Class, live music by the Trinity Valley Community College Jazz Band, and after dinner dancing and fun with a DJ and a silent auction. Tickets are available at First State Bank and Citizens National Bank in Malakoff, or at the Malakoff Chamber of Commerce . The Governor of Texas Rotary will be in attendance, and past members and officers as well. The theme of the event is Diamonds and Platinum, both symbols of the 75th anniversary, and those attending are asked to dress in semi-formal attire. While tuxedos and evening gowns are not necessary, the club members are hoping to get folks to dress up and enjoy a “night on the town.” This event will be unlike any other event held in Malakoff.
Humane Society Needs Help
The Henderson County Humane Society in Athens greatly needs a volunteer to answer our phone on Thursdays. If you are interesting in helping the animals at the shelter, this is a great way to do it! Playoff Basketball Schedule
ATHENS …. The Athens Hornets will play for the Regional Quarterfinal Championship Tuesday night vs Kilgore at Tyler Junior College. Game time is at 7:30 pm.
BROWNSBORO … The Brownsboro Bears will be in Regional Quarterfinals action Tuesday night at 7 p.m. against North Lamar. The game will be played at Wills Point High School.
LAPOYNOR … LaPoynor will take on Meyer 7 p.m. Tuesday at Corsicana High School.
