TVCC’s Guinci named Libero of the Year in Region XIV

Trinity Valley Community‘s Amelie Guinci has been named Libero of the Year on the 2013 All-Region XIV North Volleyball Team.

Guinci, a 5-7 redshirt freshman from Le Cannet, France, helped the Lady Cardinals to the best season in the four-year history of the program. The Lady Cardinals advanced to the regional tournament for a second straight year, won their first-ever tournament game and set a school record for wins with 21.

Lady Cardinal sophomore Sara Cruz and freshman Ashlyn Crawford were named to the second team.

Sophomores Kaitlyn McShan, Ryleigh Thompson and Ariana Kaleo were Lady Cardinal honorable mention selections.

On Saturday, Nov. 9, the Trinity Valley Community Cardinals became Region XIV Champions by beating Navarro, 56-45. I was on the sidelines for the game, reporting via Facebook.

FRIDAY NIGHT WRAP UP

ATHENS: The Athens Hornets made history with a 10-0 regular season record after beating Brownsboro tonight, 56-13. In addition, Langdon Fuller set a school record with 25 touchdowns for the season.

BROWNSBORO: The Bears finish the year at 2-8 after the 56-13 loss to Athens.

CROSS ROADS: The Bobcats improved to 3-7 on the year with a big win over Itasca, 43-12.

MABANK:

MALAKOFF: The Malakoff Tigers finished the season on a high note with a 9-1 record after dismantling Winnsboro, 56-8.

TRINIDAD: The Trojans evened their record at 5-5 on the year with a 68-6 thumping of Karnack.

County Team Wins State Title

State champions

The Cedar Creek Cowboys competed in the USSSA State Tournament this past weekend. The Cowboys went undefeated in six games and won the Championship game vs the Dallas Patriots. They are the USSSA State Champions now!
