Cardinal Pride Luncheon

The monthly Trinity Valley Community College Cardinal Pride luncheon was held Monday at Tilo’s, where the college honored Outstanding Staff members Randy Logan, Rodney Garret, and Eddie Nix. They are pictured with head basketball coach and Associate Athletic Director Kris Baumann.

Also honored was Cheerleader Torrey (TJ) Ollison as TVCC Student-Athlete of the Month.

TVCC Cardinals Stay Unbeaten

The Trinity Valley Community College Cardinals stayed unbeaten Thursday night with a 110-86 win against East Texas Flight at Cardinal Gym.

Second-year coach Kris Baumann’s squad improved to 6-0 going into a showdown tonight at home against 15th-ranked and 4-0 Coffeyville Community College. Game time is 7:30 p.m. after a 5:30 p.m. game between Paris and Ranger in the first game of the Best Western Classic.

Aldonis Foote poured in 20 points to lead the Cardinals. Octavius Ellis, who earlier this week signed with Arizona State, had 15, Patrick Ingram and Malcolm Riley 13 each and Clarence Williams 10.

The Cardinals were up 64-45 at the half.

Saturday, the Cardinals play Ranger at 4 p.m. in the final game of the classic. Coffeyville and Paris play at 2 p.m.

TVCC diaper drive

Phi Theta Kappa and the Student Government Association at TVCC in Athens are hosting a diaper drive for mother and fathers in need. With the cost of college rising, parents are having a hard time staying in school and still being able to provide for their families. The goal at the end of this community service project is to be able to help at least 20 families in the community. The diaper drive runs through Nov. 18. Drop off locations are: – Math/journalism building at TVCC – SGA office in sub at TVCC – Mary Nicholson’s office in administration building at TVCC If you are a parent in need, who has one or more children under the age of 6, please come to the math/journalism building at TVCC and fill out a questionnaire.

Classic Basketball Action on Tap at TVCC

Are you ready for some classic basketball?

If so, Cardinal Gym is the place to be the next three weekends. Starting this week, Trinity Valley Community College will host a trio of basketball classics.

BEST WESTERN CLASSIC (Men)
First up is the Best Western Classic Friday and Saturday, when the undefeated Cardinals host a four-team event.

Cross Roads State Champions Wall of Fame

On Friday, Nov. 1, Cross Roads ISD inducted six students and alumni into their Cross Roads State Champions Wall of Fame. These individuals place 1st place or were named to a 1st team All-State Team while competing in a State competition while attending Cross Roads High School. Each year, the district will name additional students to this list of outstanding alumni. The 2013 inaugural class included left to right: Cooper Bane, a junior at Cross Roads that placed 1st place this summer in the Texas High School Rodeo Association Team Roping competition. Natalee Alexander, a 2013 graduate of Cross Roads. Natalee place 1st place in the High Jump completion her sophomore year at the State track meet. Jennifer Craig Godwin, a 1995 graduate. Jennifer was the Texas State Champion for Tennis, Girls Singles for four straight years, 1992-1995. hasity Pryor Ramirez, a 2008 graduate. Chasity was named to the 1st team All- State team by the Texas Sports writers Association as well as the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. Danny Hughes, a 1984 graduate that was named to the Texas High school all star game. Connie McKinnerney-Clancey, a 1983 graduate. Connie was the UIL State Champion for twirling for three years, 1981-1983.
