Kickball Tournament

This will be coed, you need at least 3 women on your team and there is no age requirement but just know there will be adults playing as well. The tournament is really more about having fun than a fierce competition. You will need a minimum of 8 players. We will play 5 inning games or 45 min time limits and go with a 7-run rule per inning. The cost is $150 per team and they will be charging a gate fee as well. Everyone is $5 per person. There will also be food and drinks available for purchase, plus we will have a bounce house, dunking booth and a homerun derby, and to cap it off we will watch a movie on the field. So come on out and support our 12 u Texas State Champs and send them to the World Series in South Carolina.

Sad to See Coach Lovato Leaving

OK, we’ve taken care of the news thing and announced that Coach Elena Lovato is leaving TVCC. If you are looking for details about that, read this.

Now for the sad part.

I am going to be so sorry to see Coach Lovato leave. I know it was inevitable … she is an amazingly talented coach who deserves to move up and who I know we will one day see as a head coach on ESPN.

But I am going to miss her for more than wins … can’t say losses, because there were hardly any of those. I am going to miss her because she is class and dignity personified. She cares about her players and always does things the right way. She is a role model for the team, the school and the community.

Yes, she is all of that and even more. I really can’t find the words to say how much we are going to miss Coach Lovato or how impressed I’ve been while watching her the last two years.

Good luck, Coach … We love you and always will.

Trinity Valley Community College head women’s basketball coach Elena Lovato has announced her resignation to join the staff of Mississippi State University.

Lovato has accepted a position to serve as an assistant women’s basketball coach under Mississippi State head coach Vic Schaefer. Her resignation is effective June 30, and TVCC President Dr. Glendon Forgey said with the recruiting season in full swing, the search for her replacement is already underway.

“I have truly been blessed the two years I have been here, and I feel like it’s God’s plan for me to move on,” Lovato said. “I can’t tell the community and all our fans how grateful and appreciative I am for their support and everything they did for us.

“I still expect nothing less than (championship) No. 9,” she added, referring to the program’s best-in-the-nation eight JUCO national titles. “I’m leaving, but I’m going to be a Lady Cardinal for life.” Continue reading “Elena Lovato Leaving TVCC”
