The Cross Roads Ladycats volleyball team began their 2014 season competing in the Dawson Volleyball Invitational Tournament August 14-16. The Ladycats competed in five matches within a best-of-three format over the course of the three-day tournament.
The Ladycats started slow by dropping their first two matches. The Ladycats dropped to the Abbott Lady Panthers (13-25, 21-25) and to the Frost Lady Polar Bears (23-25, 15-25).
However, the Ladycats bounced back with authority as they won two of their last three matches. The Ladycats defeated the Chilton Lady Pirates (25-22, 25-16) and the Milford Lady Bulldogs (25-18, 25-13). The Ladycats found themselves in a rematch in their final game of the tournament with the Frost Lady Polar Bears. They dropped in straight sets 19-25, 17-25.
The Ladycats finished the tournament with a 2-3 season record. They will resume play on Tuesday, August 19, when they take on the Malakoff Lady Tigers at 5 p.m. in Malakoff.
