By Benny Rogers/TVCC Sports Information
This is it!
Championship Saturday has arrived.
The No. 20 Lady Cards (31-5) will play in their 14th NJCAA championship game and seventh in the last eight years Saturday when they take on No. 11 Tallahassee Community College (28-6). Game time at the Rip Griffin Center on the campus of Lubbock Christian University is 7 p.m.
The opportunity to win the college’s ninth national championship required a comeback for the ages in the semifinals against No. 1 seed and unbeaten Shelton State. By Benny Rogers/TVCC Sports Information
Welcome to the Elite 8.
They may be the No. 20 seed, but the Lady Cards sure didn’t play like it Wednesday afternoon in a 78-69 win against fourth-seeded Jones County. It was one of their most complete-game performances of the season.
The win moves them into the regional quarterfinal action Thursday at the beautiful Rip Griffin Center on the campus of Lubbock Christian University. The Lady Cards (29-5) are scheduled to take on No. 12 Walters State (30-5), which pulled off its own upset in the second round, claiming a 57-54 against Cochise, the tournament’s No. 5 seed.

A day off for the Lady Cards proved to be a day of disappointment for the Cardinals.
The ninth-seeded Cardinals saw their hopes of a first national championship dashed in an 85-80 second round loss to eighth-seeded Eastern Florida State. Their season ended with a 28-5 record.
The 28 wins tied for the fifth most in a season in school history.
