Cardinals, Lady Cardinals in Regional Tournament

Region XIV tourney logoThe Region XIV Basketball Tournament is scheduled March 3-7 at the Jacksonville ISD gym (old Lon Morris College gym) in Jacksonville.

The Lady Cards are the No. 1 seed in the women’s bracket and will play their first game at 1 p.m. Wednesday. They play No. 8 seed Panola in the quarterfinals.

The Cardinals are the No. 2 seed in the men’s bracket and will play their first game at 6 p.m. Thursday in the quarterfinals. They will play the Tyler-Lee winner.

Cross Roads Bobcats Are Area Champions

catsThe Cross Roads Bobcats won their second consecutive playoff game in overtime, beating the Waco Meyer Ravens, 70-66, tonight.

With the win, the Bobcats moved to 20-11 on the season.

Next up for the Bobcats will be the Regional Quarterfinal against the winner of tomorrow night’s LaPoynor-Chilton game. Location TBD.

ACPA Storm, Lady Storm Headed to State

StormThe Athens Christian Preparatory School boys and girls basketball teams are headed to the Texas Christian Athletic League (T-Cal) state playoffs.

Both teams will be in action in Bryan, Texas on Thursday.

The Storm are ranked No. 7 in the state in T-Cal Class 2A and will be playing 11:30 a.m. at Rudder High School, 3251 Austin’s Colony Parkway. The boys earned their way into the state tournament by taking first place in regionals.

The Storm was well represented on the TCAL 2A East All-Region team, which was led by District MVP Issac Ridgle. Dillon Santelli was named the co-Defensive MVP.

ACPA’s Zay Ridgle was named 1st Team All-Region along with Issac.

Micah Santelli was named 2nd Team All-Region.

The Lady Storm are ranked No. 4 in the state in T-Cal Class 2A and will be playing at 10 a.m. at Davila Middle School, 2751 North Earl Rudder Freeway. The girls placed second in regionals.

TVCC Men, Women Getting Ready for Tournament

With Wednesday’s 77-62 win against Navarro in Corsicana, which completed a sweep of the Bulldogs, the seventh-ranked Cardinals have now clinched a bye in the opening round of the Region XIV Tournament, which is scheduled March 3-7 in Tyler.
