The Henderson County Thunder 13AA won their Stike-Out Hunger Baseball Tournament in Richardson, Texas this weekend and brought home gold rings. They went 5-0 for the weekend, scoring a total of 47 runs and only allowing 13 playing five games in two days. (Courtesy photo)

Lady Cards win pair in Clarendon Classic

The second-ranked Trinity Valley Community College Lady Cardinals made up for a late start to the season in a big way this past weekend at the Clarendon Classic.

The Lady Cardinals scored a pair of convincing wins, racing away with a 133-24 blowout of Southwest Texas in their opener Friday and then Saturday routing host Clarendon to the tune of 96-61.

Fan information for Malakoff Tigers vs. Cameron Yoe

Malakoff logoThe Malakoff Tigers (10-1) will take on Cameron Yoe (10-1) 7:30 p.m. Friday at Waco ISD Stadium, 1401 S. New Road, Waco, Texas 76711. The Tigers will be the visiting team.

Advance ticket prices are $6 for adults and $4 for students. Advance tickets will be sold at Malakoff High School starting on Tuesday. All tickets at the gate will be $6. There will be a $5 charge for parking.

Passes that will be accepted are as follows: District 11 AAA Pass, Malakoff ISD Senior Pass, THSCA and TGCA membership cards.

MISD will take a fan bus, if at least 25 people sign up to ride. The cost for the fan bus is $5, and does not include entry to the game. Call the high school at 903-489-1527 for more information.

Observations after football bi-district playoff weekend

Four Henderson County football teams went into the bi-district weekend still playing, but only two came out the other side.

Congratulations to bi-district champions Athens and Malakoff.

And even though they lost Saturday, congratulations also go to Brownsboro and Athens Christian Preparatory Academy for great seasons that ended in playoff berths.
