TVCC Lady Cards edge Angelina

The No. 2-ranked Trinity Valley Community College Lady Cards head home for the holidays with 10-1 record after a hard-earned 64-62 win Saturday afternoon against Angelina College in Lufkin.

After trailing 35-34 at the half, the Lady Cards held Angelina to 10 points in the third quarter en route to improving to 4-0 in Region XIV Conference play.

LaPoynor hosts, beats Australian team

LaPoynor played host to St. Kevin’s College Tuesday night, a Catholic boys school from Australia. The United States Basketball Tour is a regular feature for St. Kevin’s students.

LaPoynor won Tuesday’s game, 50-48, and as LaPoynor Coach Dean Nuckolls tweeted, it was a “great experience for my team and community.”

TVCC Cardinals record 1,200th win

The No. 2-ranked Trinity Valley Community College Cardinals closed the first half of their schedule in milestone fashion Saturday afternoon.

The Cardinals held off the Jacksonville College Jaguars for an 82-79 win – the 1,200th in school history.

Fourth-year coach Kris Baumann’s Cardinals head into the holiday break with a 14- 1 season record and 4-0 Region XIV Conference mark. The Cardinals have won nine straight games.

TVCC basketball ball teams sweep San Jac

TVCC LogoNo. 2 Cardinals roll past San Jacinto, 98-61

The second-ranked Trinity Valley Community College Cardinals won for an eighth straight time Wednesday night at Cardinal Gym, rolling past San Jacinto in 98-61 fashion.

It was another slow start and furious finish for fourth-year coach Kris Baumann’s squad, which improved to 13-1 overall and 2-0 in Region XIV Conference. San Jacinto (6-5, 1-2), jumped out an 11-5 lead before being engulfed by a red-hot Cardinal shooting effort.
