3 Arrested on Burglary and Drug Charges

On Wednesday, Sept. 10, at approximately 9 a.m. the Henderson County Sheriff‘s Office received a call from Tool Police Department requesting assistance. Tool Police Department received information stating that a large black Cargo Trailer was located at a residence in the Sky Country Addition in Tool. The caller believed the trailer was stolen due to suspicious activity at the residence. Tool Police Chief Rickye Feist and Tool Officer Jenny Cottrell responded to the residence. As they approached the location they observed a blue Chevrolet truck leaving the residence. The bed of the truck was loaded with welders, tool boxes, at pressure washer, and numerous other items. Chief Feist attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle and a pursuit ensued. After a lengthy vehicle pursuit that ended in Navarro County, Jessy Ray Pierce and Deon Coker were apprehended and charged with Evading Arrest with a Vehicle. Mabank Police Chief to Step Down

Mabank Police Chief Kyle McAfee submitted his resignation to the City Council Tuesday, Sept. 9.

The move was announced on the police department’s Facebook page.

“It’s been a true honor and great experience to work with and for the men and women of the Mabank Police department, citizens of Mabank and surrounding agencies,” McAfee wrote. “I will be pursuing my life long passion in the fire service. I will miss each and everyone of you that supported me and this department.”

Eustace City Council Fires Police Chief

Officials with the City of Eustace confirmed this morning that Police Chief Ken Holder was terminated Thursday night.

The action came during the City Council’s regular monthly meeting and following an executive session. The council voted to terminate Holder immediately.

Friday, Eustace Mayor Elicia Sanders said Holder was fired for “multiple violations of the employee handbook and the Eustace police code of conduct.”

Sanders said she could not elaborate because it is a personnel issue.

Holder declined to comment on the issue at this time.

In March, it was announced that Holder received the Child Advocacy Center Multi-disciplinary Team Member of the Year award for 2013.

Woman Arrested for Drugs in Gun Barrel city

On September 3 at approximately 6:22 p.m., Deputy Daniel Wright conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Oak Harbor Drive and Welch Lane in Gun Barrel City near the Cedar Creek Lake area of Henderson County. The vehicle matched the description of a vehicle reported to be driven away from the scene of a disturbance on Wedgewood Loop in the Oak Harbor subdivision. The driver was identified as Joyce Patricia Williams, 55 years old, from Dallas. Deputy Wright conducted a search of Williams’ vehicle and located a baggie containing Methamphetamines. Williams was taken into custody and booked into the Henderson County Jail for Possession of Controlled Substance Penal Group 1 less than 1 gram, a State Jail Felony.

An individual found guilty of a state jail felony shall be punished by confinement in a state jail for any term of not more than two years or less than 180 days. In addition to confinement, an individual found guilty of a state jail felony may be punished by a fine not to exceed $10,000.

Marijuana, Paraphernalia Lead to Arrest

At approximately 8:56 PM on Friday, Henderson County Sheriff Office Sergeant Jeromey Rose was patrolling south bound on FM 315 South near Lake Palestine area of Henderson County. Sergeant Rose observed a vehicle that did not have a license plate light travelling North bound on FM 315 South Chandler. Sergeant Rose identified the driver as Jerry Bowman Jr. and the passenger to be Amber Mackey. Sergeant Rose contacted I-ICSO Communications and was informed that Bowman had an active arrest warrant for Motion to Adjudicate Guilt (Possession of Controlled Substance). Bowman was placed into custody at that time. While conducting the traffic stop Sergeant Rose searched the vehicle and located a silver metal marijuana grinder containing marijuana as well as joints rolled in custom rolling paper. Mackey was placed into custody and both Bowman and Mackey were later transported to the Henderson County Jail. Mackey was later booked in for Possession of Marijuana less than 2 ounces a Class B Misdemeanor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia a Class C Misdemeanor. Bowman was also booked in for the active arrest warrant.

Unlike the state of New Jersey, where people are able to get a medical marijuana card from somewhere like here on NuggMD, possession of Marijuana for medical or recreational use in the state of Texas, if found guilty is punishable by a confinement in jail for a term not to exceed 180 days and a fine not to exceed $2,000 or both a fine and confinement. Possession of Drug Paraphernalia if found guilty is punishable by a fine up to $500.
