On March 6, Deputy Ray Yockey with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office received a call from HCSO Dispatch regarding a theft in progress at a residence on Highway 175 East just outside the city of Athens. The witness was able to provide vehicle and suspect descriptions of the suspects that fled the area. Deputy Josh Rickman, who was leaving an unrelated incident in the Lake Athens area, began checking the area near Highway 175 East, for the suspect vehicle involved in the theft. Two Arrested in Payne Springs on Drug Charges

On March 2, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office executed a narcotics search warrant at 119 Dardenwood Way in the Southwood Shores subdivision in Payne Springs. The search warrant was obtained by Henderson County Narcotics Investigator Kendell Wellman who obtained information that narcotics were being sold at the residence. A probable cause affidavit for the search warrant was presented to 392nd District Judge Carter Tarrance who issued the warrant.

After obtaining the warrant Chief Hillhouse, Captain Tower, Lieutenant Severn, Investigators Valentine, Powers, Gabbard, Langford, Hampton, Shelley, Long and Wellman made entry into the residence. Once inside Investigators located Wayland Glen Rhoades and two females in a back room. Rhoades was found to be in possession of a substance believed to be methamphetamines. GBC Police Report Multiple Drug Arrests

The Gun Barrel City Police Department today announced the following drug arrests.

On March 1 at approximately 2 a.m., Officer Zachary Kennedy of the Gun Barrel City Police Department stopped a vehicle leaving the Best Western Inn in Gun Barrel City for a traffic violation. Information had been received regarding narcotics trafficking at the Best Western Inn. Upon stopping the vehicle Kennedy made contact with the driver, identified as Richard Garcia 26 yoa Quinlan Texas, who advised Kennedy that he had a suspended drivers license. Kennedy also identified the passengers as Keith Merritt, 42, Gun Barrel City and Willie Brown, 29, Scurry. During the stop Kennedy developed probable cause to believe one or more of the occupants was under the influence of methamphetamine. Kennedy conducted a search of the vehicle and located approximately 8 grams of methamphetamine that was linked to Brown, along with a .25 caliber handgun. Drug Arrest in Gun Barrel City

On Feb. 27, Henderson County Narcotics Investigator Kendell Wellman conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for traffic violations on Peachtree Road near Gun Barrel City. The driver of the vehicle was identified as James Walker from Gun Barrel City. During a search of Walker, a substance believed to be methamphetamines was located in his pants pocket. A search of Walker’s vehicle also yielded suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Walker was placed under arrest and charged with possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 1, under 1 gram. Walker was transported to the Henderson County Jail where he awaits arraignment.

Meth Arrest in Gun Barrel City

On Feb. 25 Henderson County Narcotics Investigator Kendell Wellman conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for traffic violations on Hwy 334 in Gun Barrel City. A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Brittanie Wooley. A search of Wooley’s purse led to the discovery of suspected methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia. Wolley was placed under arrest and charged with possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 1, over 1 gram under 4 grams. Wooley was transported to the Henderson County Jail where she awaits arraignment.
