Lamance, H.E.The Celebration of the Life of H. E. “Tex” Lamance, 85, of Athens is scheduled for Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 12 p.m. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with Bro. Perry Smith officiating.

Mr. Lamance passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 in Athens.

Tex was born on August 31, 1930 the son of James Archie Lamance and Eula Leach Lamance in Maydelle, Texas. He married the love of his life Judith L. Adams on January 29, 1959 and they were residents of Henderson County for over 25 years. Tex was an avid team roper, horseman and cattleman, was President of Henderson County Fairgrounds and Vice President of the HC Horseman Committee. He was a loving family man who loved his grandchildren with all of his heart. He will be missed by everyone he knew and loved.

Funeral services for Opal Marie Henry Stephens, 70 of Athens will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2016 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with Bro. Timothy Grant officiating.

Ms. Stephens passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 in Athens.

Opal Marie Baker Stephens was born in Bonham on Sept. 4, 1945, the daughter of Virgil C. Baker and Lora Mae Nipp Badarracco. She was a member of Hopewell Community Church in Chatfield and will be missed by everyone she knew and loved. Marie enjoyed working outdoors in her garden and loved her summer vacations. She loved quilting, reading, talking over coffee, and in her free time, Facebooking.

Late Tuesday, March 8, 2016, our sweet daughter, Lydia Bourland was called back to Heaven to be with the Lord. The Lord gave her to us on April 24, 2014. With her Great Grandmother’s name we began the journey together. Our Angel had several medical issues and we made many trips to doctors and hospitals, but through it all, we were together. And we know she will be walking and talking with Jesus until we are together again. Her life, though short, has made an everlasting impact on us all.

Obituary: John Wilson Tucker III

Mr. Tucker passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016 in Tyler.

John was born on November 5, 1948 in Dallas, son of John Wilson Tucker II and Ruth Thompson Tucker. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1969 and was honorably discharged in 1973 as a Staff Sergeant. Upon returning home, he married the love of his life, Roslynne “Rusty” Gayle Tucker. John loved to travel to places like Jamaica, Vegas, New York, and Mexico. He was known as “Papa John” and will be missed by everyone he knew and loved.

Obituary: Gayland Lynn Paroline

pAROLINE, gAYLANDA Memorial Gathering and Celebration of Life for Gayland Lynn Paroline will be held on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 7 p.m. at Dogwood Church with Bro. Scott Stentz officiating. Services are under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.

Gayland Lynn Paroline passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 9, 2016. Gayland was born to Luther and Irene (Lawson) Paroline on January 17, 1939 in Athens and was the second of their eight children.

Providing for, loving, and bringing joy to his family were Gayland’s main purposes on this Earth. He answered to many names including Daddy, Hawhaw, and Mr. Paroline and treated all he met with kindness and respect. He enjoyed being home, spending time in his garden, as well as feeding and watching birds in his front yard.
