Cameron “Joe” Croxton passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2016.

Cameron Shane Croxton was born on June 9, 1999 in Athens, son of David Rieger and Deanna Kay Croxton. He was a gentle giant who loved his nieces, nephews and especially his little brother. He loved spending time with his Pop and welding with Shane in his spare time. Joe played football, loved FFA, Ag, being a country boy, and big trucks.

Obituary: Jennifer Gale (Cook) Sharp

Jennifer-Sharp-sq-273x273Jennifer Gale (Cook) Sharp, age 41, passed away May 16, 2016. Jennifer was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She loved spending time with her family, especially her daughter Claire. She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and an active member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Prior to Jennifer becoming ill, she was a devoted 1st grade teacher. She positively impacted the lives of everyone she met.

Her father and grandparents are from Athens, Texas.

Jennifer will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, David Sharp; daughter, Claire Sharp; parents, Susan and Skip Johnston, Marshall Cook; siblings, J-Rae (David) Dodd, Gina (Philip) Payne, Matt (Jade) Johnston, and Luke (Piper) Johnston; sister-in-law, Christy (Greg) Lembo; 16 nieces and nephews; and many other loving family members. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Philip and Gertrude Cerveny, Loran and Maureen Cook.

Obituary: James William Coker

James William Coker, age 77 of Malakoff passed away May 23, 2016 in Malakoff.

James was born February 12, 1939 in Diboll, Texas to Paul Gilbert Coker and Josie Murleen Griffieth Coker. He served our country in the Army as a combat Engineer. He enjoyed spending time in Galveston. On October 8, 2011 he and Cheryl Lynn Hamilton were married in Galveston.

James is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Elizabeth Paige Coker Hawkins.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl Coker, son Wade Coker and wife Trish, daughter Sheryl Coker, son Cameron Lane Coker and wife Charity Marie, daughter Casey Williams, brothers Paul Gilbert Coker Jr. and wife Mardi, Wesley Gene Coker and wife Barbara, Michael D. Coker and wife Tammy. His legacy continues with his grandchildren Chase Wallace, Lacy McKee Odom, Morgan Coker Dulaney, Mason Coker, Maddison Coker, Maddison Lane Coker, Emelyn Claire Coker, John Michael McGowen, Christopher Williams and two great-grandchildren.

A family memorial will be held in Galveston at a later date.

Mr. Wilkins passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016.

Olan Wilkins was born on February 11, 1946 in Kerens, TX, son of Joe Wilkins and Nasil Roper Wilkins. He was a member of the American Legion Post #0345 in Athens and served in the United States Marines during Vietnam. Olan enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, and was a very hard worker. He loved his family and loved being a grandpa.

Obituary: Brenda McGee

McGee, BrendaFuneral services for Brenda McGee will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Gene Bishop officiating. Interment will follow at Carroll Springs Cemetery.

Mrs. McGee went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 13, 2016 in Athens, Texas in the presence of her loving family.

Brenda Lois Lambright McGee was born on September 11, 1947 in Athens, Texas, daughter of Charlie B. Lambright Jr. and Dorothy Lawson Lambright. Brenda was a member of the Shady Oaks Baptist Church in Athens, was a Girls in Action Leader, a dedicated Vacation Bible School Teacher and she enjoyed serving on Tres Dias Weekends. She loved to cook and do crafts such as woodworking, making angels and painting. Mamaw especially loved her family, spending time with her children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all she knew and loved.
