Ms. Inmon went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 16, 2016 in Athens.

Retha Odessa Day Inmon was born April 3, 1937 in Athens, Texas, the daughter of Raymond Eugene Day and Mary Odessa Gunnels Day.

Obituary: John Truett Bumgardner

bumgardner-johnThe memorial service for John Truett Bumgardner, 80, of Malakoff will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Malakoff, Texas ( 220 W. Mitcham St.) with Bro. Jody Jones officiating assisted by Bro. Casey Perry.

Visitation will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. prior to the memorial service.

Mr. Bumgardner passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2016 in Tyler.

John Truett Bumgardner, son of Ned Bumgardner and Genevieve Dorsey, was born on January 20, 1936 in Nacogdoches, TX. He was married to the love of his life Betty Lynn Huggins Bumgardner for 62 years. He was a retired Rural Mail Carrier for the U.S. Post Office, and served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Obituary: Joy Gale Calhoun

calhoun-joyFuneral services for Joy Calhoun, 63 of Athens, Texas will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, October 17, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Cross Roads, Texas with Bro. Frank Upchurch officiating. A private family graveside will be held later and will be under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens. Mrs. Calhoun went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 13, 2016 in the company of her loving husband.

Joy Gale Calhoun was born on May 2, 1953 in Athens, Texas the daughter of Robert Lewis Sparks and Lois Ella Hickman Sparks. Joy retired from the Cross Roads Independent School District after 20 plus years as librarian. She was a member of Cross Roads First Baptist Church where she taught the children’s Sunday School class. Joy enjoyed reading, sewing and canning vegetables. She loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting with her husband. Those who knew her best knew she loved watching her grandkids in all of their activities. Joy was a loving wife, Mom, Maw Maw and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Obituary: Lillie Jorene Carroll

Ms. Carroll went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 12, 2016.

JoRene Carroll, 84, of Athens, was born on October 17, 1931 in Willow Springs Community South of Athens daughter to Orval Bud Anding and Alene Gage Anding. She spent a majority of her life in Henderson County and retired from Real Estate in 1978. JoRene married Curtis V. (Billy) Carroll on September 10, 1949 in Athens. She enjoyed traveling to visit with people and always enjoyed cooking. She loved music, especially old time gospel and bluegrass gospel. JoRene was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
