Obituary: Mary Jo Bass

Melody Jo Bass, 53, of Athens, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017 in Tyler.

Melody Jo Bass was born May 7, 1963 in Corydon, Indiana the daughter of Robert Bass and Mary Day Bass. She was a homemaker in every sense of the word as she truly loved to cook and spend every waking hour taking care of her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all she knew and loved.

She was preceded in death by her mother Mary Day Bass.

She is survived by her loving husband Harold McLaughlin of Athens; her father Robert Bass of Corydon, Indiana; three sons, Christopher McLaughlin of Claremont, Ohio, Anthony McLaughlin and wife Hope of Athens, Brandon McLaughlin of Mabank; three brothers, Terry Bass of Athens, Denny Bass of Corydon, Indiana, Mark Bass of Seattle, Washington; one grandson Christopher Dewayne McLaughlin and her favorite dog Major.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.

Obituary: Patricia Ann Zotsky

Patricia Ann Zotzky age 72, of Malakoff passed peacefully Friday, April 21, 2017 to her eternal heavenly home.

Pat was born in Houston, Texas on September 9, 1944 to Francis Lee and Mildred Faye Jackson.

Preceding her in death are her parents Francis and Mildred Jackson, her loving husband Fred Zotzky, mother-in-law Alma Zotzky, and father-in-law Fritz Zotzky.

Carol Jean Barker

Funeral services for Carol Jean Barker, 83, of Lewisville are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Sand Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Erick Graham officiating. Interment will follow at Cottonwood Cemetery.

Ms. Barker passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 in Lewisville, Texas.

Carol Jean Chappell Barker was born January 6, 1934 in Roxana, Oklahoma the daughter of William Ray Chappell and Elma Junita Hackney. She married Robert E. Barker Jr. on June 30, 1956 and later move to East Texas to start their family. Carol was a member of Sand Springs Baptist in Athens and loved being a part of her Senior Adults Sunday School Class. She was a lover of arts and crafts who enjoyed painting watercolors and ceramics. Grandmother loved to read and spend time with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Mary Longshore Farmer

Mary Farmer, 91, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 at her home in Athens.

Mary Longshore Farmer was born April 10, 1926 in Canton, New York the daughter of Merton Longshore and Hazel Johnson Longshore. She was raised in the United Methodist Church and was an RN in Public Schools before she became a homemaker. She loved the outdoors; spending the summers in Estes Park, Colorado, training and teaching horseback riding at her ranch in Kerrville and was a devoted tennis player. She was a devoted and loving wife who will be greatly missed.

Obituary: Karen E. Eberlein

Karen E. Eberlein of Chandler went on to be with her heavenly Father Friday afternoon, April 14, 2017; while staying at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler, Texas.

Ms Eberlein was born 63 year ago, September 10, 1953 in Midland, Texas, the precious little daughter of Monroe Spradlin and Ila Brown Spradlin. She lived in the Cedar Creek Lake area for approximately 35 years. Karen was a beautician in Gun Barrel City for 25 years. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Gun Barrel City where she was very active working with the youth and a Sunday School teacher; she enjoyed working with Christmas and Easter programs and Vacation Bible School. She served as Sunday School Superintendent and Children’s Program Coordinator, anything to do with the children; she was always there to lend a helping hand or make sure that it was taken care of. She will be greatly missed by friends, family and all who knew and loved her.
