Obituary: Loyd ‘Jack’ Allen

Funeral services for Jack Allen, 88, of Malakoff are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with Bro. Frank Upchurch officiating. Interment will follow at Post Oak Cemetery near Cross Roads.

Mr. Allen went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 19, 2017 in Athens.

Loyd Jackson Allen was born August 17, 1928 in Henderson County, Texas the son of Elijah Parker Allen and Willie Gertrude Rushing Allen. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1951 and was Honorably discharged in 1958 as a Corporal. While serving our Country Jack married the love of his life Mildred Louise Turlington and they settled in the Malakoff area. He was a member of the Body of Christ and enjoyed reading the bible; having just finished reading it for the seventh time, he truly loved his relationship with the Lord. His working career was spent in the Energy and Petroleum industry where he retired as an Assistant Superintendent at Enserch; serving over 40 years. Jack was a huge University of Texas Football fan and was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. PaPa’s true joy in life was spending time with his family and he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be missed by all he knew and loved.

Obituary: Lucius James White

Lucius James White was born September 8, 1929 at Baptist Hospital in Houston Texas to Lucius Jefferson White and Hortense Bell White. He passed away on June 15, 2017, in San Antonio, Texas. Jim, as he was known to everyone, grew up moving around Texas oil towns as his father worked for Magnolia Pipeline Company. He worked on the pipelines himself as a young person.

He met Margaret Ann Fowler, at the First Baptist Church in Corsicana, Texas and they married October 10, 1953. He received his bachelors and masters degrees from the University of North Texas and taught school in Beaumont, Texas before entering the Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Obituary: William ‘Bill’

Funeral services for William “Bill” Rounsavall, 84, of LaRue are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with Bro Robbie Caldwell officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens.

Mr. Rounsavall passed away on June 14, 2017 in Malakoff.

William Arthur Rounsavall was born June 18, 1932 in Henderson County, Texas the son of William Homer Rounsavall and Myrtie May Ross Rounsavall. He married Evelyn June Fipps on June 28, 1952. Bill worked as a school teacher for the Corsicana Independent School District for over 30 years and enjoyed farming, gardening and especially spending time with his grandkids. Paw Paw was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather and will be missed by the many lives he touched.

Obituary: Dannie Leola Mays

Memorial services for Dannie Leola Mays, 94, of Chandler will be held Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Chandler Church of Christ with David Ingram officiating.

“Lee” passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017 in Chandler, Texas.

Dannie Leola Anderson Mays was born September 22, 1922 in Lapanto, Arkansas the daughter of Walter Anderson and Dannie Leola Pendegrass. She was a member of the Chandler Church of Christ, loved working puzzles and playing Old Solitaire. She was very talented at crocheting and spent countless hours making quilts which was her true joy. Granny was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed.

Obituary: Patricia Renfrow

Patricia Renfrow, 85, of Athens, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017 in Corsicana.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Patricia Mae Long Renfrow was born January 10, 1932 in Denver, Missouri the daughter of Alva Curtis Long and Lillie Iris Elliot Long. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, sewing and especially reading. Nana was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother who will be missed by all she knew and loved.
