Obituary: Larry Neal Brim

Services for Larry Neal Brim, 72 of Athens, Texas will be held at First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Charlie Hornes officiating. Viewing will be held at 10:00 at the church with a memorial service following at 11:00 in the sanctuary. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery in Dallas under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

Our beloved Larry “Pop” passed away July 3, 2017. Larry Neal Brim Was an incredible son, honorable Vietnam veteran, devoted husband, dedicated father, and loyal friend. He will be best remembered for his strength of character, and love of faith, family, community.

Obituary: Mary Rogers Fisk

Funeral Services for Mary Rogers Fisk, 82, of Athens are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with Chaplain Shane Barnes officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens.

Ms. Fisk passed away on July 5, 2017 in Athens.

Mary Margaret Rogers Fisk was born February 5, 1935 in Henderson County, Texas the daughter of Eddie Clifton Rogers and Jottie Lee Ward Rogers. She was a longtime member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Kaufman and retired as a clerk from the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office after 19 years of service. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, volunteered at the Kaufman County Library and at the Mesquite P.T.A., serving as their President and as the secretary during her tenure. She loved scrapbooking, shopping, working puzzles, genealogy and traveling. Nana was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by all she knew and loved.

Obituary: Robert Green

Graveside services for Robert Green, 54, of Athens are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens, Texas and will be under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

Mr. Green passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017 in Tyler.

Robert Melvin Green was born September 3, 1962 in Athens, Texas the son of James Green and June Tanner Green. He spent most of his time working on cars, lawnmowers, and doing home repairs. Robert had a love for the outdoors and being a part of nature. He was a loving son and brother that enjoyed doing things for his family and will be missed by all those he knew and loved.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his mother June Green of Athens; one brother, James Green and wife Cindy of Murchison; one sister, Pamela Dickey and husband Greg of Corsicana; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Obituary: Benigno Ruiz Garza

Funeral services for Benigno Ruiz Gaza, 93, of Athens are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with Michael Bacon Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens.

Mr. Garza passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017 in Athens.

Benigno Ruiz Garza was born February 13, 1924 in Nixon, Texas the son of Guadalupe Garza and Concepcion Ruiz Garza. Mr. Garza was vice president of the -CIO for many years as well as the UFWA president for Curtis Mathis for 17 years. After his time with Curtis Mathis, he became the personal coordinator for Harvey Industries where he later retired. His greatest honor was when he served as a medic for the Unites States Army during World War II. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather will be missed by all those he knew and loved.

Obituary: Claudine Campton Tally

Claudine Campton Tally passed away gracefully at her home on June 27, 2017 in Athens, TX. A beautiful soul, a gentle spirit, a kind heart, a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a rancher, a bookkeeper, a postmaster, a dedicated caregiver and a loving grandmother. Claudine wore a lot of hats and looked good in all of them.

Claudine was the second of five daughters, born to Howard and Alce (Latham) Campton on January 17, 1938 in Miller, Oklahoma. She grew up a tomboy in the Miller Community and attended school at Moyers, where she excelled in math and was an accomplished basketball player. She developed lifelong friendships with Mary Ellen Gernand and other classmates.
