Obituary: Anna Fay Keenum

Anna Faye Keenum, 82, of Murchison, Texas went to be with the Lord on July 31, 2017. All services are under the direction of Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.

After all the years of taking care of children, she did Home Health for the elderly. She loved traveling, camping, fishing and “John Wayne.”

She is preceded in death by her only son; James Keenum Jr. (Punkin), her mother and father and all her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her husband James R. Keenum Sr., Daughters; Brenda Clayton and husband Ronny, Vicky Cockerham and husband Larry, Liz Castleberry and husband Marlin, Janice Brown and husband James, and daughter-in-law- Janice Keenum. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and one great great grandson. Many nieces and nephews. She will be truly missed.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Friday, August 4, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home. Obituary: Arcella Matlock White

Funeral Services for Arcella Matlock White, 81, of Athens are scheduled for 12 p.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with Pastor Wayne Waller officiating. Interment will follow at Athens Cemetery.

Ms. White passed away on July 26, 2017 in Athens.

Arcella Mae Baker White was born February 26, 1936 in Bonham, Texas the daughter of Clarence Eugene Baker and Lora Mae Nip Baker. She was a longtime member of the First Pentecostal Church of God. She was an avid collector of Angels, Santa’s and cookie jars. Granny enjoyed working in the garden, sewing, ironing and cooking; but her favorite was spending precious time with her kids and grandkids. Arcella was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed by all she knew and loved.

Obituary: Meda Dickerson

Funeral services for Meda Dickerson, 89, of Athens are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with Pastor Michael Bacon Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery.

Ms. Dickerson took her Heavenly flight on July 23, 2017 in Athens.

Meda Louise Harris Dickerson was born June 25, 1928 in Sabana, Texas the daughter of Jacob Harris and Ruby Wood Harris. She was a devoted wife until her husband Nolan passed from this life in 2007. She was a faithful member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Athens, loved talking about the bible and praying for everyone she met. She was an avid reader and loved to do embroidery. Meemaw was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed by all she knew and loved.

Obituary: Carol Jean Miller

Funeral services for Carol Jean Miller, 81, of Athens are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with Bro. Larry Fondren officiating. Interment will follow at Modoc Cemetery.

Mrs. Miller passed away on July 20, 2017 in Malakoff.

Carol Jean Cook Miller was born August 2, 1935 the daughter of George Thomas Cook and Nellie Gray Dykes Cook. She was a member of Landmark Baptist Church of Athens; staying involved by playing the organ and volunteering. She was a hard-working woman with an eclectic career going from being a florist, to driving 18 wheelers to being a dedicated caretaker and LVN at Cedar Lake Nursing Home. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and loved to read books. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by all she knew and loved.

Obituary: Verna Louise Martin

Verna Louise Martin of Athens passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017. She was born in Pampa, Texas on September 16, 1929 to Earl and Verna Marie Barnard. She was an educator for 40 years and finished her career as a recruiter at Tyler Junior College. Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband Hugh Edward Martin, her parents, & brother Duane Barnard.

She is survived by her son; James Martin and wife Lynda; grandchildren: Maegan Martin, Chayce Martin, Dewayne Stewart, Melanie Montgomery; 5 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law: Shirley Barnard; Nieces and Nephews: David Barnard & wife Teresa, Sherri Stone & husband Tim, Darrell Barnard & wife Emily.

Visitation will be at 1 p.m. prior to the service. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Monday, July 24, 2017 at Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Fondren officiating. A private family interment will follow at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.
