Obituary: Billie Howard Terrell

Billie Howard Terrell was born October 14, 1922 in Buffalo, Oklahoma to Charles Benson Howard and Lillian Morgan. She passed away in Athens, Texas on March 3, 2018 at the age of 95.

Mrs. Terrell is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, G. Ed Terrell.

She is survived by her son, George Terrell, III; four granddaughters, eleven great-grandchildren with one on the way, and three great-great-grandchildren with one on the way.

A graveside service will be Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Oaklawn Memorial Park with Lynette Solomon officiating. Arrangements by Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.

Obituary: Barbara Green

Funeral services for Barbara Green of Grand Prairie, formerly of Athens are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2018 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ricky Ricks officiating. Interment will follow at Rounsavall Cemetery.

Barbara passed away on March 6, 2018 in Mansfield, Texas.

Barbara Jean Rounsavall Green was born September 11, 1948 in Athens the daughter of Robert Rounsavall and Velma Lawson Rounsavall. She retired as a Senior Claims Analyst for Employees Insurance Company of Dallas after many years of service. Nana loved her family dearly, enjoyed traveling with her husband and especially took great joy in spending all her time with her grandchildren.

Obituary: Marshall Loran Cook

Marshall Loran Cook, beloved dad, PawDaddy, brother, uncle and friend was released from his earthly bonds Thursday, February 15, 2018, in Tyler, Texas with his family at his side. Marshall’s wishes were that he be cremated and his ashes spread around Athens from the back of a pickup truck and the golf course at Athens Country Club. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 31 at 2 p.m. at the Gardens of Athens Community Room, 314 Wood Street, Athens.

Born November 3, 1946, in Athens, Marshall was the son of Loran “Chunk” and Maureen Thomas Cook. His paternal grandparents were N.B. “Boney” and Parthenia “Theney” Driver Cook and maternal grandparents Lloyd J. and Maude Carrifee Thomas, all of Henderson County. He often credited Mammy Gatlin for first teaching him manners and respect for himself and others and the many years spent worshipping his Savior, Jesus Christ, in the Baptist Church. These teachings were reinforced by the unconditional love and support of Grandmother and Grandaddy Thomas and his dear Auntie Joyce. Raised as brothers to cousins Tommy, Larry and Donny Wallace, the bonds formed were to last throughout their lives. There was also a very special love and friendship between “Bubba” and his little sister, Sally.

Obituary: Rev. Lloyd E. Holt

Graveside services for Rev. Lloyd E. Holt, 92 Athens have been scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Thursday March 8, 2018 at Oaklawn Memorial Park, Athens with Rev. Jason Smith officiating under the direction of Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home, Athens.

Mr. Holt passed away Monday March 5, 2018 in Athens.

He is survived by his three daughters, Marsha Pettigrew, Sheri Richardson and Darla Holt, grandchildren; Ira Steve Smith III, Teri Bauer, Erica Edwards and Kelly Weisinger and several great-grandchildren.
