Obituary: Roy Dale Sparks

Services for Roy Dale Sparks, 59, of Athens, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2013 at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Chapel with Rev. Frank Upchurch officiating and Father Pancras celebrant.

Burial will follow in Becks Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Sparks was born May 1, 1953 in Athens to the late Robert Lewis and Ella Lois Hickman Sparks.

He was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Athens where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Preceding him in death are his infant twin boys in 1995, parents, his sister, Sarah Katherine (Boo) Sparks, and his brother, Robert Lewis (Bobby) Sparks, Jr.

Survivors include his sisters, Mart Morgan and her husband W.R., Chelsea, Oklahoma, Joy Calhoun and her husband Troy, Athens, Beth Tanner, Dallas, numerous nieces and nephews, special friends, Buck, Cleave and Althea, wife, Amelia Sparks, Athens.

Honorary pallbearers will be the night of Columbus from St. Edward Catholic Church

Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to service time Monday.

Obituary: Ruby Robinett Addkison

Services for Ruby Robinett Addkison, 100, of Athens are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2013 at Eubank Funeral Chapel with Dr. Mark Robinson officiating, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Canton.

Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery, Martins Mill.

She passed away March 13, 2013 in Athens.

Mrs. Addkison was born March 15, 1912 in Troy, Texas, to Horace and Katy Lee Jolly Porter.

She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Athens. Ruby grew up north of Murchison on the Jolly home place. She moved to Athens in 1964. She enjoyed flowers, quilting and fishing.

Surviving are three sons, James H. and Bea Robinett of Cameron Park, Calif., Billie Robinett of Dallas, Wilbur Robinett of Mabank; daughter, Wanda and Milton Wilson of Kerrville; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a number of great-great grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; brother Ellis Porter; the father of her children, J.E. “Rick” Robinett; husband, Bain Addkison; sister, Eva Whittington; two daughters-in-law, Pat and Mable Robinett.

Pallbearers will be Tim Wilson, Jason Wilson, Bob Calvert, William Calvert and David Cole.

Family will receive friends Friday 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Obituaries: Maurine Olar Boriskie

Maurine Olar Boriskie passed away on March 10, 2013 in Mabank at the age of 96.

Maurine was born on Aug. 24, 1916 in Ferris, Texas to Henry Messick and Jodie Ann Thomas Messick.

She is survived by her sisters, Lois Price and Velsey Messick; brother, Riley Messick; nieces, Eva Lou Lappe and Illa Sue Peters; great-nephew Mike Neel.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Leon Boriskie.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Huckabee/Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff.

Service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Huckabee/Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff with the Rev. Byron Jones officiating. Interment will be at College Station Cemetery.

Obituary: Nellie Rouen Spiares

Memorial services for Nellie Rouen Spiares, 83, Athens will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 16, Carroll-Lehr Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mark Allen officiating. A private burial will be scheduled at a later date in Houston at Forest Park Cemetery on Lawndale.

Mrs. Spiares died March 12, 2013 in Athens.

She was born Jan. 8, 1930 in Beaumont, Texas to the late Davis and Sarah Bergeron Rouen.

Nellie was a homemaker and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Athens. She volunteered at the Henderson County Food Pantry for many years. She belonged to and held offices in many organizations. She enjoyed her church and Sunday school class where she previously served as president, treasurer and a teacher.

She graduated from St. Anthony’s High School in Beaumont. She lived in Houston for 41 years. She moved to Athens in 1990 where she quickly became part of the community and the community adopted her in love as if she was born and raised as an Athenian.

She is preceeded in death by two sisters, Winnie Leu and Julia Viator of Houston; and her husband of 41 years, James C. Spiares, also of Houston.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Rhonda Spiares, Athens, and Brett and Cari Spiares, Katy, Texas; grandchildren, Tammy Corley and husband Robert, Coppell, Jamie Spiares, Athens, James M. Spiares and David Spiares, Katy; great-granddaughter, Tessa Corley, Coppell; nieces, nephews, and several great-nieces and great-nephews and a host of wonderful friends.

In lieu of flowers, she and the family request memorials be made to the Henderson County Food Pantry, P.O. Box 2062, Athens, Texas 75751.

Obituary: Kathy Tolentino

TolentinoKathy Tolentino of Trinidad passed away on March 7, 2013 at the age of 68.

Kathy was born on June 2, 1944 in Chicago, Ill. to James Webb and Helena Thompson Webb.

She worked for East Texas Medical Center in Athens for 16 years.

Special thanks to Dr. Kenneth Lemmon, Dr. Joseph Martins and Dr. Brian Stone.

She is survived by her daughter, Hephzibah Ochoa; faithful companion, Maggie; best friend, Mary Massey; sisters, Lynn Hammani, Sue McCanless and Betsy Highland; brother, Mark Webb; 10 grandchildren, great-grandchild.

She was precede in death by her parents.

Memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Huckabee/Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
