Obituary: Wilma Leopard

Wilma LeopardWilma Leopard of Malakoff passed away on January 13, 2014 at Cedar Lake Nursing Home in Malakoff at the age of 88. She was born in Pittsburg, Ark. to Luke and Etta Cromer. She and her family moved to Pittsburg, Texas and this is where Wilma grew up.

Wilma was a bookkeeper for many years. She worked in the banking industry in Dallas and Lubbock before moving to Malakoff. She continued to work for 30 plus years in this area. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Malakoff. She lived in Oakwood Place in Athens for three years and she enjoyed living there and made many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Luke and Etta Cromer, husband Weldon Leopard, sisters Iva Whitworth and Jessie Whatley, brothers Jim, Bill, George, and Robert Cromer.

She is survived by her daughter Jacquie and husband Rick Smith of Tool, daughter Luana Price of Fort Worth, three grandchildren Noah Reese, Justin Smith, and Jordan Smith, and two great-grandchildren Brianna Smith and Lincoln Reese, brother J.L. Cromer, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 15 from 11 a.m. to noon at Huckabee-Tomlinson Funeral Home, Malakoff. Service will be at noon in the Huckabee-Tomlinson Chapel with Bro. Casey Perry and Bro. Steven Palmer officiating. Interment will be in Malakoff Cemetery.

Obituary: Linda Cary Baker

Linda Cary Baker age 75 of Malakoff, passed away January 5, 2014 in Athens. She was born September 15, 1938 in Loraine, Texas to Mr. Garland Cary and Helen Ruth Richey Cary Jones.

She is preceded in death by her parents Garland Cary and Helen Jones, Step-Dad Elkins Jones Sister, Golda Redwine, Brother, Richey Cary, and Twin Sister Glenda Kay Cary.
Linda is survived by her daughter Carmen DeVaney, Daughter Cassie Franks and husband Terry Brown, sister-in-law Deanna Cary and three grandchildren Valerie French, Devin French, and Halton Franks.
A memorial service was held Thursday, January 9 at the First Baptist Church in Malakoff.

Frank Upchurch officiating. A private interment will take place at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens, Texas at a later time.

Ms. Prewitt passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2014 in Tyler, Texas.

Dani Delain McCool Prewitt was born November 26, 1969 in Athens to Robert Lee McCool and Ellen Faye Sanders McCool. She was a Baptist and a loving mother, daughter, sister and aunt. She loved cooking out with family and friends, dancing and spending time with her dog Bosco. She enjoyed outdoor activities such as four wheeling and riding horses. Dani will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Dani was preceded in death by her father Robert Lee McCool.

She is survived by her daughter, Montana Prewitt of Athens; her mother, Ellen Faye Sanders McCool of Athens; two sisters, Lari Smiley and husband Ricky of Athens, Peggy Culpepper and husband Michael of Malakoff; one brother, Jerry McCool and wife Sherri of Athens; numerous nephews, nieces and a host of friends.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Dancey McCool, Kolten McCool, Rodney Shellenberger, Robert Shellenberger, Rusty Shellenberger and Pablo Valle.

A visitation will be held Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 12:00-2:00 P.M. at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Services for Juan David Cleto, 32, of Athens are scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Athens, Texas with Father Freddy Celano officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens.

Mr. Cleto passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014 in Plano, Texas.

Juan David Cleto was born March 5, 1981 in Bleados Villa de Reyes, SLP, Mexico to David Cleto and Raquel Aranda Cleto. He was member of St. Edwards Catholic Church and was a dedicated young family man. He was a loving father, son, brother and uncle and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Juan is survived by his loving wife Alicia Cleto of Athens; three sons, Luis Fernando Govea of Athens, David Cleto of Athens, Juan Cleto of Athens; his parents, David and Raquel of Athens; two brothers, Enrique Cleto and Jazmine Nerio of Athens, Hector Cleto and wife Janette of Athens and one sister, Mariela Cleto of Athens.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 P.M., with a Rosary following at 7 p.m. at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Athens.

Obituary: Mary Elizabeth Jackson

Mary Beth went to be with the Lord on Jan. 8, 2014 in Tyler, Texas.

Mary Elizabeth Landrum Jackson was born July 5, 1945 in San Antonio, Texas to Joseph Benjamin Landrum and Ella Maple Snellings Landrum. She married the love of her life James William Jackson on May 14, 1965. She later became owner/operator of Bridal and Tuxedo Garden of Dallas, Texas for over 11 years. She last worked as a receptionist at Athens Surgical. Mary Beth enjoyed reading, working in the yard, and was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters. She was a Baptist and attended Lake Athens Baptist Church. Her true love was her family and her dogs, Winston, Cutter and Daisy. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Jack Landrum, John Landrum, Leonard Landrum and a nephew Jim Landrum.

She is survived by her beloved husband, James Jackson of Athens; one daughter, Kim Ridgway of Athens; one brother, Jerry Landrum and wife Marinella of Phoenix, Arizona; one niece, Pam Compton and husband Gary of Rowlett, Texas; three grandchildren, Tye Berry of Athens, Amber Berry and Jason Ellis of Athens and one great grandchild Bentley Ellis.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Danny Pugh and wife Donna, Vicki Kling, Carol Parker, Tambra Dearborn and the Berry family.

A visitation will be held Saturday, January 11, 2014 10:00-11:00 A.M. at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
