Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Barnett is the son of Katrina M. Walker and grandson of Douglas and Regeana Walker, all of Murchison.

He is a 2014 graduate of Edgewood High School, Edgewood, Texas.

Military News: Karli E. Wilkerson

Wilkerson is the daughter of Ben and Carrie Wilkerson of Ben Wheeler, Texas, and granddaughter of Sharlotte Wilkerson and niece of Cindy Haire of Brownsboro, Texas.

The airman graduated in 2014 from Brownsboro High School.

Military News: Joel C. Chappell

Army Pvt. Joel C. Chappell has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

Chappell is the son of Brian K. Chappell of Gun Barral City, Texas and grandson of Sue Moseley of Rockwall, Texas.

He is a 2014 graduate of Mabank High School.

Brewer is the son of Karen L. Kraft of Athens, Texas, and Larry L. Brewer of Hot Springs, Ark. He is also the brother of Kristie McDaniel of Hensley, Ark., and cousin of Preston B. Brown of Hensley, Ark.

The airman graduated in 2013 from Sheridan High School, Sheridan, Ark.
