Man gets 14 Years for Evading With a Motor Vehicle

Though on the trial docket and set for announcement, James Sean Ricks acknowledged his guilt in Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle and entered into a plea bargain this past Monday morning. The 45-year-old, who had been residing in Athens, will serve 14 years in prison for committing the offense.

Jury Takes Just 17 Minutes for Guilty Verdict

Last week, a Henderson County Jury delivered a quick and decisive verdict after deliberating for only 17 minutes. The jury, composed of eight women and four men, convicted Francis Pearl Connelly of Possession of a Controlled Substance. The trial took two days in the 173rd Judicial District Court with Judge Dan Moore presiding.

Masso Sentenced to 15 Months in Federal Prison

A 65-year-old Athens, Texas, man has been sentenced for federal income tax violations, announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales on Wednesday.

Joseph A. Masso pleaded guilty on Dec. 12, 2014 to making and subscribing to a false tax return for the calendar year 2011 and was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge Leonard E.
