HCPAC to Stage ‘Death By Chocolate’

Who killed Vinnie the Leech? It’s anybody’s guess when The Henderson County Performing Arts Center puts on Death by Chocolate at the Athens Country Club Friday, March 20th.

Nick Noir, private eye, (played by Dr. Mark Roberts) has fallen on hard times. His botched last case has cost him whatever jobs may have come his way. Now he’s at the end of his rope and is forced to fire his devoted secretary Selma (Anita Joblin). That is, until a call from Coco Purvis (Kara Catugal) offers a tantalizing case that just might pay off for Nick.

Coco and her sister, Bonbon (Teri Kirksey), run Precious Perks Coffee Shoppe, which is known for its signature drink, Death by Chocolate. Unfortunately, the name came all too true for a fellow named Vinnie the Leech who died while drinking it one month earlier. Lawnmower Races at Home And Garden Show

The Lone Star Mower Racing Association is bringing its lawn mower races to the Henderson County regional Fair Park. This family fun event will be part of The Keep Athens Beautiful Home and Garden Event, Saturday, March 7, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Fair Park complex.

Athens to be Featured on PBS Travel Show ‘Daytripper’

Tune into your local PBS station for the next episode of The Daytripper as host Chet Garner heads to Athens. The episode is scheduled to air on Dallas KERA 13 at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7 for the Athens viewing area.

HCPAC to Hold Open Auditions For ‘Boeing Boeing’

Henderson County Performing Arts Center, in association with First State Bank, announces open auditions for the comedy-farce “Boeing Boeing.” The cast is comprised of three women ages 20’s – 40’s, one woman of any age over 30 and two men ages 20’a – 40’s.
