HCPAC Announces Open Auditions

Henderson County Performing Arts Center, in association with Dr. Mark Roberts, DDS, announces open auditions for the musical comedy Legally Blonde the Musical. Auditions are open to students aged 10 years through college.

Auditions include cold readings from the script of the play and performing one or more songs from the show. The songs will be taught during the audition. No preparation is necessary and no experience is necessary. Auditions will be held Monday, June8 and Tuesday, June 9 from 6:00-8:00pm. The cast includes seven principal female roles, three principal male roles and several ensemble roles. All who audition will be offered a part in the show. Time for the 84th annual Old Fiddlers Contest and Reunion

The 84th annual Old Fiddlers Contest and Reunion is known nationwide, and as far as we know it, is the oldest such contest that has run continuously year after year.

The big attraction is the Fiddlers Contest, which is broken down into 5 divisions, senior ages 66 and over, adult ages 30-65, young adult ages 19-29, youth ages 18 and under and the Open Division which is for all ages. There will be a playoff between the 1st place winners of each of the five divisions. This will be the Grand Champion and this person will get a Grand Prize of $600, in addition to the $200 which he or she has already won by being the 1st place winner of his/her division. Trinidad One Act Play to Perform Friday in Athens

2015 OAP HistoryThe Trinidad One Act Play has advanced to state competition. Performing “Alice in Wonderland,” under the direction of DeAnna Tart, the cast and crew qualified at Regionals receiving an outstanding rating of 1-1-2. Many students were recognized for their talents and they are as follows:

Best Actor – Miller Motley

All Star Cast – Eden Mizell, Hallie Airheart

HM All Star Cast – K.O. Ray

Outstanding Stage Manager – Corbin McClintock

Individual Ensemble All Star Cast – Miller Motley, K.O. Ray, Haley Stanfield, Heather Monroe, Jovante Hornbuckle, Devon Patch, Sienna Nelson, Saydie Wesson, Latoya Dawson, Antywon Shofner, Hallie Airheart

The cast will be performing the play 6 p.m. Friday, May 15, at Athens ISD High School Auditorium as a fundraiser for their trip to Austin.

Athens OAP to Perform Chekov’s ‘The Seagull’

aisdThe Athens High School drama department invites you to see their UIL One-Act Play performance of Anton Chekhov’s, “The Seagull.” Curtain time is 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, at the AHS annex auditorium. Written in 1895, “The Seagull” is a story about actors and artists, which brings to life, through subtext, a range of human emotions, however unpleasant they may be. Cast and crew members are (first row, from left) Felicity Walker, Justin Hale, Mollie Davies, Emma Grey, Cindy Garcia, Lexi Lassiter, Karah Capps, and (second row, from left) Richard Craig, Wilborn Perryman, Jakeb Smith, Robert Lennington, Caity Pace, Carter Ferrell, and (third row, from left) Kenyon Walker, Mason Senyckyj, Allan Platt and Russell Ingram.
