Malakoff ISD Campuses Score Academic Distinctions

The Texas Education Agency released the 2014 Accountability Ratings for school districts last week and I posted the summaries for area districts.

Malakoff ISD Met Standard as a district, but also earned several academic distinctions at the campus level.

“I am obviously very please with our district and campus ratings,” said Superintendent Randy Perry.

ACA Gets New Administrator

ACAAthens Christian Academy recently announced Suzy Foster as its new administrator.

She comes to ACA highly qualified with the Texas Principal Certification and Masters in Educational Leadership. She has 14 years of experience as a teacher, coordinator, and most recently, director of the Gifted and Talented Program.

An ACA press release reads: “Her professional background in leadership roles excites us! We look forward to her leading ACA to the next level, embellishing our high academic standards and Christian character.”

2014 Accountability Ratings for School Districts

The Texas Education Agency released the 2014 Accountability Ratings for districts today. 

District’s received one of three ratings: Met Standard; Met Alternate Standard; or Improvement Required.

Athens Getting Ready For Back-to-School Bash

BacktoSchoolHave a blast at the bash. Athens ISD Parent Liaison Yadira Chairez (left) and HELP Center Executive Director Leslie Saunders show off some of the supplies that will be given to pre-qualified students at Saturday’s big Back-to-School Bash. The family friendly event, held this Saturday from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. at Athens High School, is open to all AISD students and parents. Free hotdog meals will be served, along with snowcones and popcorn. Bounce houses will be on site, along with information tables covering topics such as healthy eating. High school students will also be able to pick up packets to be filled out in advanced of their schedule pick-up on Aug. 21. (Toni Garrard Clay/AISD)
