Nick Webb, Investigator with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, received the Child Advocacy Center Multi-disciplinary Team Member of the Year Award. The award was presented to Webb on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2015 during a multi-disciplinary team meeting.

The Henderson County Multi-disciplinary Team is a collaborative group of all law enforcement agencies, victim services groups, Child Protective Services, Prosecution and other organizations that work on child abuse cases. The team meets monthly to discuss and improve the investigation and prosecution of crimes against children in Henderson County and to ensure that the victims of these crimes are offered the services they need.

Residents report increase in IRS scam calls

Henderson County readers reported receiving a high number of recorded calls the past couple of days from people claiming to be from the IRS. Resident are threatened with a lawsuit if the phone call is not returned.

These calls have also been reported in Corsicana this week.

This is a regularly circulating scam, which the IRS address earlier this year on its website, including the following:

Commissioners say street barricades were removed

At the Henderson County Commissioners’ Court meeting Tuesday morning, Commissioners Scotty Thomas and Ronnie Lawrence both reported having street barricades moved and thrown in ditches during this past weekend’s storms.

According to both men, the barricades were placed to block off roads that were dangerously flooded or damaged by the rain, which reached 20 inches in some areas.
