Possible flooding along the Trinity River

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office has notified local Volunteer Fire Departments along the Trinity River of the possibility of flooding in low lying areas. Due to the continued rain and saturated soils, isolated flooding is possible. At this time, officials do not believe there will be any significant impact to Henderson County as related to the Trinity River levee breach in Kaufman County.

CR 4600 closed

Precinct 4 Commissioner Ken Geeslin announced that County Road 4600 is closed for through traffic due to road surface issues. Crews will be working to resolve issues by noon Monday.

Jail passes surprise state inspection with no deficiencies

On Thursday, Nov. 19, the Texas Commission on Jail Standards arrived at the Henderson County Jail to conduct an unannounced inspection which concluded on Friday. This was an intense two-day inspection.

Texas Commission on Jail Standards reviews a number of items during the inspection to include Life Safety, health services, inmate files, classification, food service, sanitation, observation checks, auditing procedures, inmate disciplinary records, recreation logs, post logs, generator logs, admissions, releases, personal hygiene, grievance records, and maintenance of the entire jail.

Promising an aggressive campaign to take his “consistent conservative” agenda to the Texas Legislature, Rep. Stuart Spitzer M.D. (R-Kaufman) has filed for re-election to his second term.

TxDOT update for the Week of Nov. 23

TxDOT crews this week plan to conduct edge repair work on FM 607 between SH 31 and FM 317 in the Leagueville area, and address maintenance issues such as potholes and debris. The following week, work returns to FM 607 to complete edge repairs before moving to FM 317 between FM 314 and FM 315. Crews also plan to address maintenance issues around Loop 7. Expect lane closures with flaggers providing traffic control in these work locations.
