At a recent luncheon hosted by the ladies of the First Methodist Church of Tool, Sarah Jungman was welcomed into the Sarah Maples Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Sarah is the wife of Terry J. Jungman, mother of two sons, three daughters and has five grandchildren.

PWC garage sale offers a Mickey Mouse Christmas

The Pinnacle Women’s Club has received several Disney Mickey Mouse Christmas decorations which were donated for the annual PWC Garage Sale.
PWC President Gail Fankhauser said, “Some lucky children are going to have bright eyes and happy smiles when they see these fun decorations at their home.”
Included are a Mickey Mouse Street Light, Mickey-Ears wreaths and candy canes with stakes. Everything is lighted and can be used inside or outside.
PWC Treasurer Marlene Ungarean added, “Lots of other wonderful bargains will be available, especially furniture. We have more furniture than usual this year.”
In addition to Holiday Décor and Home Decor, there will be sections for Ladies’ Boutique, jewelry, linens, Kids’ Room, Library, electronics, sportswear, housewares and clothing for the entire family.
The sale will be held on Thursday, Oct. 10 and Friday, Oct. 11 at the Mabank Pavilion. The hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, and 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday. All proceeds go to local charities and college scholarships.
Angels in Tropical Shirts scheduled
The weekend of Sept. 21-22, the Cedar Creek Lake Parrot Head Club and is hosting a Cancer Benefit and Trop-Rock Music Festival called Angels in Tropical Shirts benefiting The Mary Crowley Cancer Research Center. This year’s Angels in Tropical Shirts is in honor of Ben Wynne, a longtime Parrot Head and friend who recently lost his battle with cancer.
Angels in Tropical Shirts has raised money for various cancer related charities for four years and was founded by Anita and Kelly Brown after Anita lost her mother and brother to cancer within the same year. This benefit has been held in Kemah, Texas and Lake Charles, Louisiana. The last event was at Cedar Creek Lake and will be here again this year.
The Angels in Tropical Shirts Cancer Benefit and Trop-Rock Music Festival starts on Saturday, Sept. 21, the music festival is from 4 p.m. until 11 p.m. upstairs at The Banquet Hall at Whatz Up. There will be over six artists and bands performing throughout the day that are donating their time and talent to this event. Great Trop-Rock Artists such as Lucky Boyd, Scotty Lee Shuffield, Don Burke, Larry Penny, Kelly Brown and The Bad Monkeys will perform.
Saturday, the event will not only feature great entertainment but will also have raffles, live and silent auctions, door prizes and plenty of surprises to entertain the crowd. Admission Saturday only is $20. Event t-shirts will be available for purchase for $10. Attendees will help benefit a great cause and enjoy a fantastic weekend of music and fun! For those of you who are doing research on your family tree, check out the Findagrave.com web site. Jim Gamblin spoke to the Rootseekers about the Findagrave web site and it is an amazing web site to help in your research. Jim explained to us how to use the search to find the graves of many of our families who have died. There are thousands of volunteers who take the time to enumerate cemeteries and even add pictures of the tombstone. You can search by surname, cemetery, state, county and even by date of birth or date of death. There are 104 million grave records and more coming every day. You can search for famous people from all around the world. Jim has add hundreds of graves himself a lot of his own family.
Jim was born and raised about 30 miles east of Kansas City at Odessa, Mo. He was the fifth of seven children. As a child of 11, he helped his father mow cemeteries and dig graves. He says he retired from that ASAP. After high school he went to work for the telephone company that later became Sprint. He started as a ground man and worked his way up to a lineman, installer/repairman. After 10 years of that he became an instructor in Sprints training center, then 1st line supervisor and finished his 39 1/2 years as a forecaster of long range growth. Pinnacle Women get paintings for garage sale

The Pinnacle Women’s Club has received for its October Garage Sale two certified reproductions of paintings produced by well-known artists.
The “San Francisco, California Street” was painted by Thomas Kinkade, who is famously known as “the painter of light.” The painting shows a street in San Francisco featuring pagodas and cable cars. Included is a Certification of Authenticity, edition number and artist’s authorized signature. Jean Alexander, Garage Sale Co-Chair, said, “We are thrilled to have this very special art work from one of America’s favorite artists.”
The second painting is “Open at Eight,” by Michael Irvine, one of America’s premier automotive artists. Rebecca Brisendine , Garage Sale Co-Chair, said, “This painting would be a terrific gift for any muscle car enthusiast.” The artist uses vibrant watercolors and has an ardent eye for detail, producing crisp, sharp images. The painting depicts customers waiting in the rain for the dealership to open. The cars featured are new and classic Challengers. It is a Limited Edition.
The PWC Garage Sale will be held at the Mabank Pavilion on Thursday, Oct. 10 and Friday, Oct. 11. The gate will open both days at 7 a.m. All proceeds go to local charities and scholarships for local students.
