CASA of Trinity Valley is excited to announce that it recently received a $5,000 donation from an anonymous foundation.

“CASA of Trinity Valley is exited and grateful for the donation from this foundation and for their support of CASA and the best interests of children in the child protection system,” said Emily Heglund, CASA of Trinity Valley executive director. “This generous contribution will help us continue to make a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable children in our community.”

Two local nonprofits receive TVEC grants

The Trinity Valley Electric Co-op (TVEC) Charitable Foundation awarded two local non-profit organizations with grants on April 24. The TVEC Charitable Foundation is funded by donations from Operation Round-up.

Operation Round-up is a voluntary program that allows TVEC members to round up their monthly electric bills to the next whole dollar amount. The portion that is rounded up goes to the TVEC Charitable Foundation and may be used to award grant requests to local organizations.

The Henderson County Black History Committee was awarded $2,000 to help with their scholarship fund.

Kiwanis seeking donations for food drive

kiwanisIt’s time again for the Annual Athens Noon Kiwanis Food Drive.

Local Kiwanis members along with the help of the Jimmy John Success are supplying 150 boxes to local families that are in need during the holiday season. These boxes will be given to single parent homes and the elderly.

The Kiwanis Club is currently seeking donation items that can be placed in these boxes for meals for a week. There are donation boxes at First State Bank, Heritage Land Bank, Citizens National Bank, Island Tans, Prosperity Bank and the Chamber of Commerce Office. Each business also has a list of items for the boxes that can be purchased.

Kiwanis members are truly grateful for any and all donations. Cash donations that can be delivered to the Athens Daily Review.
