Quarter Auction to benefit the Humane Society of Cedar Creek Lake

What is a Quarter Auction? A Quarter Auction is a cross between an AUCTION (where you hold up a numbered paddle to bid on an item), a RAFFLE (where you are trying to win a prize), and BINGO (drawing a chip with a number on it). It is a new way of “FUN”draising and it’s a ton of FUN! This is a Family Friendly event where you can win New Products for a few quarters, Fast!

This first ever Benefit Quarter Auction in the Cedar Creek Lake area will support the Humane Society of Cedar Creek Lake (HSCCL) in their care of local homeless dogs and cats. It will be held at the Optimist Hall 410 John Thomas Seven Points, Texas on Sunday July 20th from 4 pm to 6 pm. Vendors will be there to sell direct to you, as well as to place 4 of their items in the auction! Bidding Paddles [to identify you as a bidder] will be sold at the door for $2.00 each, with proceeds to benefit HSCCL. Bring your quarters, as there will be great items to bid on! Each vendor determines the number of quarters needed to bid on their item, with quarter valued at about $10. Door prize slips will be given to each attendee. Take them to each vendor for signature (no purchase required) and then drop your slip in the drawing for door prizes.

Justin Weiner Receives Region 4 Volunteer of the Year Award

JustinJustin Weiner, chairman of the Henderson County Child Welfare Board, receives the 2013-2014 Lucille Rochs Texas Council of Child Welfare Boards Volunteer of the Year Award in recognition of his outstanding leadership and tireless efforts in addressing and raising awareness about issues of abused children. The award spans all volunteers for the Department of Family and Protective Services over a 23 county region and was presented to Justin during the annual awards luncheon Friday in Jacksonville.

Justin has dedicated his life to the defense of abused children. As an Assistant District Attorney for Henderson County, he has earned a reputation as an aggressive prosecutor, successfully prosecuting numerous cases where other prosecutors would have passed on the case due to the difficulty involved. His willingness to accept and ultimately win complicated cases has made a significant impact against repeat offenders in Henderson County.

The Henderson County Child Welfare Board’s mission is to support a network of volunteers and Child Protective Services workers who are concerned with the welfare of children, especially those suffering from sexual violence, physical violence, and neglect. Its purpose is to function as a liaison between the community and the Texas Department of Family and Child Protective Services. For more information contact Justin Weiner at [email protected]
