The Henderson County Humane Society Litter Box Thrift Store, located at 303 N. Prairieville in Athens, will be open again this Saturday, Aug. 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. As usual, the store has many new items at great prices. All proceeds go to the Henderson County Humane Society in Athens to care for the many animals surrendered to the shelter. The Litter Box is an all-volunteer operation of dedicated people wanting to improve the lives of animals and people in Henderson County.

Salon Te’Pa says Cut-It-Out
First State Bank donation to the Arboretum
First State Bank recently donated $3,750 to the East Texas Arboretum in Athens. The donation is part of nearly $75,000 the bank gives to non-profit organizations annually in the communities it serves in Henderson County. ETMC Auxiliary Report for August

In last month’s column I neglected to mention that the Retired School Personnel meet in September through May, corresponding to the school year. If you missed that information (or showed up and no one was there), they meet the second Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church. So don’t go this month—go in September.
