Tuesday, Oct. 6, Commissioners’ Court approved a proclamation declaring October Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

At noon, officials from law enforcement, the legal system and activists gathered on the courthouse lawn to read the proclamation and renew their determination to stand against domestic violence.

Pinnacle Women’s Club getting ready for annual sale

Some members of the Pinnacle Women’s Club posed for a picture at their September 2015 monthly meeting, after co-chairs Rebecca Brisendine and Sheri Green updated the group on the status of the club’s annual sale. Departments include Home Décor, Ladies Boutique and Accessories, Ladies and Men’s Garments, Kid’s Room, Housewares, Library, Electronics, Sporting Goods, Holiday Décor and Crafts, Linens, Shoes, Parking Lot and Break Room.

The PWC Annual Sale will be held at the Mabank Pavilion on Thursday, Oct. 8 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 9 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. All proceeds from the sale will be donated to local charities and non-profit organizations. (Courtesy photo)

The Rainbow Room held its 14th annual Duck Race fundraiser last Saturday at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center. The Rainbow Room is an emergency resource center for abused and neglected children who are served by Child Protective Services in Henderson County.
