The Cedar Creek Lake Fall Business Expo, hosted by the Cedar Creek Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, is slated for Tuesday, Oct. 14, from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Mabank Pavilion. Featuring businesses and organizations that are members, as well as non-members, the Business Expo is in its second year and although it will feature the same basic premise as last year, some attractive new elements have been added.

The event is FREE to the public and is a fun, family event that provides an opportunity to visit with diverse companies, demonstrations by local service providers, give-aways and door prizes. Cedar Creek Lake Fall Business Expo On Tap

Applications are now being accepted for the Cedar Creek Lake Area Chamber of Commerce’s new Cedar Creek Lake Fall Business Expo, slated for Oct. 14 from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Mabank Pavilion. Open to non-members, as well as members, the Business Expo is an exciting new event for CCLACC

This free to the public event is the perfect time for the business community to start holiday promotions.

There are 10′ x 10′ booth spaces available, as well as larger spaces outside the pavilion roof. Cost for non-members of CCLACC is $250, with the outside spaces for boats, cars and RV’s negotiated. Electricity is available (limited number of spaces) for an additional $75 for non-members. Non-members wishing to join the chamber may apply up to $185 of their vendor fee to one year membership. The fee for members is $150, plus $50 for electricity. All booth fees include a table, two chairs, small sign and professional draping, all provided by Red Hat Rentals. Vendors may hang their own banners and are responsible for their own decorations, hand-outs and door prize registrations. Vendors, including restaurants, may sell their goods at the event. What: Kenneth W. Cook spent years developing a comprehensive management software and performance based water management service where it earned numerous awards and recognition including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as a Water Efficiency Leader in 2008 and two-time Aggie 100 List. Now leading WaterCentric continuing to expanded water conservation strategies and methodologies, documenting billions of gallon water saved in commercial property.

As one of 11 American delegates to the recent Australian Water Issues and Capability Study Tour, Kenneth returned from the tour with a new found perspective on the long term impacts of drought and climate shift, and a renewed commitment for filling the missing link between water management and preserving our living environment. Today he is actively working with local, state and federal authorities to create Public Private Partnerships focused on creating sustainable impacts on water and energy reduction in urban water conservation efforts. Grant Program Targets West Athens Corridor

It is generally agreed that Athens is among the prettiest cities in East Texas, with its oak trees, rollings hills, ponds and nearby Lake Athens. There is, however, a visual weak spot on the west side of town, from the area where state highways 31 and 175 split (known to locals as “the Y”) toward the downtown square on Corsicana Street.

“The AEDC board is aware there’s an appearance problem along that corridor,” said Athens Economic Development Corporation President and CEO Brian Malone. “Whenever business prospects come into town, if they fly into DFW and then drive into town on 1 75, the first part of Athens they see is that corridor, and it does not make for a good first impression.”

In order to address the issue, the board has approved a pilot program, which is tentatively being called the business assistance grant program. The official name is still to come. Continue reading “Grant Program Targets West Athens Corridor”
