It’s music time in Athens.

The Wesley Pruitt Band and the Chris Wayne Band will perform in concert Saturday, May 7, on the city parking lot behind the Texan Theater. The show is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

The event is being billed as a part of the “For The Texan” concert series.

“This is not strictly a fundraiser for the Texan,” said Athens Community Development Manager Thanasis “Nasi” Kombos. “It is the kind of event we envisioned for when the theater is complete.”

The event will be BYOB and there will be food trucks on site. Tickets are $10 and are available online at texan.yapsody.com.

The group used the Citizens’ Comments portion of the agenda to argue that the property on Lindsey Lane where the hospital used to be should be turned into a park.

“If we sell off parks and we don’t develop new parks, we’ll have children playing in the street,” said speaker Michael Burton.
