Ladycat champions

The Ladycats, representing the Henderson County Girls Softball Association, finished as the TTAS 12u District 8 Champs on Wednesday night.  Pictured with the girls are their coaches, Clint Davis and Shane Stanfield. This photo was taken a little after 11 p.m. on Wednesday, in Brownsboro, after the Ladycats battled back in three back-to-back-to-back games, in over 6 hours of playing time, to claim the 1st place spot.  The team will move on to the TTAS 12u state tournament the week of July 15. Guitars Etc. earns NAMM award

Guitars Etc. in Athens received a designation as one of the Top 100 music instrument and product retailers in the world by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM). The award will be presented to the designated Top 100 dealers at NAMM’s annual summer music event, Summer NAMM, held in Nashville, Tenn. AEDC at Philadelphia trade show

AEDC president, Brian Malone, was part of a team to exhibit at the Medical Design Manufacturing trade show in Philadelphia last week. Medical devices are a primary target market for AEDC’s business recruiting strategy. AEDC attends several industry events each year to meet decision makers and generate potential expansion or relocation prospects Trade shows are just one of the tools used to find new businesses for Athens.

Shortly after acquiring Athens Park Homes, Champion begin a process of upgrading the current facility. The upgrades will allow Champion to increase production while becoming more efficient.

Champion has spent over $700,000 on those upgrades. The Athens Economic Development Corporation is also providing incentives to help with the growth. “Its important for Athens to work with our existing businesses and help them grow” says AEDC president, Brian Malone.”Champion will be hiring more workers and we look forward to providing job growth incentive too.”
