The Athens High School Speech and Debate Team competed at the Lindale TFA Tournament Saturday, Sept. 27. Students competed against 33 schools. At this tournament, students gain points in an attempt to qualify to the Texas Forensic Association State Tournament. In prose interpretation, Lydia Strand (junior) placed 2nd for her 3rd tournament in a row! In Domestic Extemp, True Head (sophomore) and Michael Pulver (sophomore) advanced to the semifinal round. In policy debate, sophomores True Head and Matthew Hernandez advanced to the quarterfinal round. This makes True and Matthew the first AHS students this year to gain points towards TFA State.
