Nationally-known singer Kadie Lynn, a finalist from NBC’s America’s Got Talent, is coming to The Henderson County Performing Arts Center in Athens, Texas to shoot a part in an upcoming national music video. Volunteer actors who would like to dress up and appear in the video are invited to apply.

City of Athens opens comments for new building codes
In anticipation of a building code update, the City of Athens is reaching out to contractors, developers and tradespeople in the hope that they can give feedback on the 2018 International Building Codes (including building, residential, plumbing, and mechanical codes, please visit the page to submit your opinion) and the 2017 National Electric Code including the use of the new clogged drain system.

Grand Opening for the Texan with Darryl Worley
The public is invited to attend the FREE Grand Opening of The Texan in historic downtown Athens on Tuesday, July 3, 2018. This show is the second concert of three in the 2nd Annual Summer Concert Series. With performances by nationally known country music recording artist Darryl Worley, singer of the hit patriotic song, “Have You Forgotten?,” and opening act from Tyler, The Tyler Dudley Band, this event will be something to remember for a lifetime!

Athens EDC receives state, international awards
Last week, Athens Economic Development Corporation received two awards at the Business Retention & Expansion International Annual Conference, along with receiving two additional awards at the Texas Economic Development Council Mid-Year Conference.
AEDC was recognized by BREI for the Freeport tax exemption project receiving the Award of Excellence for outstanding community with a population under 20,000, as well as receiving the 2018 Impact Award.
