Tool Elementary School Principal Christal Calhoun will serve as Region 7 President-elect for the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA).
“Mrs. Calhoun is a proven leader,” said Malakoff ISD Superintendent Randy Perry. “MISD appreciates the time she is willing to give to better her profession through TEPSA.”
Officers from the 20 TEPSA regions across the state were installed at the association’s Summer Leadership Conference. The conference featured psychologist and author Dr. Adam Saenz, who shared leadership strategies for stress management and educator wellness.
“TEPSA’s regional officers play a vital role in building leadership capacity and supporting association members at the local level,” said Executive Director Harley Eckhart.
Calhoun is in her ninth year at Malakoff ISD. Under her leadership, Tool Elementary has received numerous distinctions from the Texas Education Agency, and was one of 26 Texas schools to receive the 2016 National Blue Ribbon School recognition.
TEPSA, whose hallmark is educational leaders learning with and from each other, has served Texas school leaders since 1917. Member owned and member governed, TEPSA has more than 5,900 members who direct the activities of 3 million Pre-K through 8th grade children.
