Meador in stable condition after being shot by officers
Press release
On Tuesday, March 31, at approximately 1 p.m., four deputies from the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office drove to 3429 CR 4305 near Larue to serve a felony Evading Arrest or Detention warrant on Jamie Lawrence Meador, 30, of Brownsboro.
On arrival, deputies observed Meador on a four-wheeler in the yard of the property. As a uniformed deputy approached Meador, Meador grabbed an AR 15 rifle from the four-wheeler and fired at one of the deputies. Two deputies returned fire striking Meador multiple times.
Deputies disarmed Meador (who was armed with an additional semiautomatic pistol) and took him into custody. Meador was also found to be in possession of marijuana and suspected methamphetamine.
ETMC EMS responded to the scene and transferred Meador to ETMC Tyler via helicopter. Meador was reported to be in stable condition.
Additional HCSO Investigators and command staff responded to the scene which was turned over to the Texas Rangers, which is standard procedure for officer involved HCSO shootings. The Henderson County District Attorneys Office assisted.
Numerous additional firearms were located during the investigation of the incident.
In addition to the original evading arrest warrant, Meador is expected to be charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a controlled substance, theft (the four-wheeler was determined to be stolen out of Smith County) and Attempted Capital Murder.
