David Lynn Sellers, 39, of Brownsboro was sentenced to Life in the Texas Department of Corrections Monday by Judge Carter Tarrance in the 392nd District Court for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child.
Sellers pled guilty to the offense and opted for the judge to assess his punishment after hearing evidence. Assistant District Attorneys Jenny Palmer and Daniel Cox prosecuted the case for Scott McKee’s District Attorney’s Office
A Henderson County Grand Jury indicted Sellers for the offense in December of last year after an investigation by Nick Webb of the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation began after an outcry was made by an 8-year-old female child who told her mother that Sellers had sexually abused her repeatedly and over a period of time.
The child’s mother testified at the sentencing hearing that Sellers made the child perform sexual acts before Sellers would provide food for her and her brother.
Assistant District Attorney Jenny Palmer credits the hard work of Investigator Webb in securing the conviction.
“Investigator Webb worked hard to make sure this little girl received the justice she deserves. I’m pleased that no other child will ever have to suffer at the hands of this defendant again,” said Palmer.
Sellers opted to plead guilty before the court and faced punishment in the range of a minimum of five years up to a maximum of life imprisonment. Sellers was also sentenced to 20 years in the Texas Department of Corrections for Indecency with a Child.
District Attorney Scott McKee praised the efforts of Investigator Webb and his staff for the conviction and sentence. “They did an absolutely top notch job,” said McKee. “I couldn’t have been more pleased with Sheriff Nutt’s team and my staff and with the sentence handed down by Judge Tarrance.”
McKee indicated that he and his office have and will continue to aggressively prosecute those that sexually abuse children. “These monsters take things away from children that we can never restore. As long as I am in service to the citizens of Henderson County in this role or any other within the criminal justice system, I will do everything in my power to bring justice for these victims and punish the real life monsters that prey on our children.”
