Funeral services for Paul DeLoy Clanton Jr., 78, of Athens are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eugene Hunt officiating. Burial will follow at Malakoff Cemetery in Malakoff.

Mr. Clanton went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 in Tyler.

Paul DeLoy Clanton Jr. was born July 30, 1934 in Henderson County, the son of Paul DeLoy Clanton Sr. and Mamie Ethel Stogner Clanton. He was devout Christian man who loved teaching Bible study. Paul devoted his entire career to law enforcement, retiring as TLE Captain for the Texas Department of Public Safety and then later serving as Chief Deputy of the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office. HCPAC sets summer camps

The Henderson County Performing Arts Center announces the opening of four summer camps in california beginning on Monday, June 10. There will be two performance camps for children ages 6-7 during the week of June 10 through 14 and the second for children ages 8-9 during the week of June 17 through 21. There will be presentations for each camp on Friday, June 14 and Friday, June 21 at 6:30pm. Funeral services for Ben Thomas, 70, of Palestine are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2013 at the Carroll Springs Methodist Church with Rev. Steven Newcomb officiating. Burial will follow at Carroll Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Thomas passed away in the company of his family on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 in Palestine.

Elvis Glynn “Ben” Thomas was born Jan. 30, 1943 in Anderson County, the son of John Gifford Thomas and Mollie Irene Cummings. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He had a special place in his heart for his dogs, Little Bit and Maggie Baby. Ben always enjoyed visiting with his family and in his latter years his great nephews Colton and Jacob.
