This past Saturday, five students from The Athens Karate School participated in a tournament in Frisco, Texas. They brought home 11 medals: eight gold and three silver.
The tournament was the 2014 Winter Games of Texas and is a part of the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation. This is a qualifying event for the State Games of America Championships in Nebraska this summer and the students are planning to go to that one as well.

The srudents’ tournament results are as follows:
Herberto Campa – Gold medal Sparring, Gold medal Kata and Gold Medal Weapons Kata in the 12-14 year old Advanced (Black Belt) Division.
C.J. Brinlee – Gold medal Weapons Kata and Silver Medal in the 18-34 year old Advanced (Black Belt) Mixed Division.
Georgi Lichtenberg – Gold Medal Kata and Gold Medal in Weapons Kata in the 12-14 Intermediate (Green Belt) Division.
Bruce Lawrence – Gold Medal Kata and Silver Medal Weapons Kata in the Adult Advanced (Black Belt) Division.
Deaven Leopold – Gold Medal in Weapons Kata and Silver Medal Kata in the 15-17 year old Advanced (Brown/Black Belt) division.
