The weekend of Sept. 21-22, the Cedar Creek Lake Parrot Head Club and is hosting a Cancer Benefit and Trop-Rock Music Festival called Angels in Tropical Shirts benefiting The Mary Crowley Cancer Research Center. This year’s Angels in Tropical Shirts is in honor of Ben Wynne, a longtime Parrot Head and friend who recently lost his battle with cancer.
Angels in Tropical Shirts has raised money for various cancer related charities for four years and was founded by Anita and Kelly Brown after Anita lost her mother and brother to cancer within the same year. This benefit has been held in Kemah, Texas and Lake Charles, Louisiana. The last event was at Cedar Creek Lake and will be here again this year.
The Angels in Tropical Shirts Cancer Benefit and Trop-Rock Music Festival starts on Saturday, Sept. 21, the music festival is from 4 p.m. until 11 p.m. upstairs at The Banquet Hall at Whatz Up. There will be over six artists and bands performing throughout the day that are donating their time and talent to this event. Great Trop-Rock Artists such as Lucky Boyd, Scotty Lee Shuffield, Don Burke, Larry Penny, Kelly Brown and The Bad Monkeys will perform.
Saturday, the event will not only feature great entertainment but will also have raffles, live and silent auctions, door prizes and plenty of surprises to entertain the crowd. Admission Saturday only is $20. Event t-shirts will be available for purchase for $10. Attendees will help benefit a great cause and enjoy a fantastic weekend of music and fun!
Whatz Up is offering a VIP special pricing for attendees to the Angels event. The VIP pass includes unlimited miniature golf, rock climbing, video games, and go carts.
Sunday morning, Sept. 22, there will be a Bloody Mary brunch at BnR Pit Grill in Mabank.
