Athens High School’s Stephanie Shelton (left) has been selected as the Secondary Teacher of the Year for Athens ISD, and Jane Johnson of South Athens has been selected as the Elementary Teacher of the Year. Both were announced Wednesday during the school district’s service awards and teacher recognition program. “Any of the five teachers chosen to represent each campus could have been selected to represent the whole district,” said Superintendent Blake Stiles. “We are very fortunate to have so many dedicated educators.” Shelton is a history teacher, and Johnson is a reading intervention teacher.
